Here I am on an a Friday night, home alone, wondering what to do with myself. Somehow, the pile of ironing does not appeal - after all, I have the rest of the weekend for that !
Hmm, off I go to the fridge to find my little friend Stella Artios ! MMMM !
I bought 4 x 500ml cans in my local Spar for £4.00 which is not bad for quality lager.
The can itself is mainly white in colour with a gold and red emblem dispaying the famous words "Stella Artois" on the front.
Even though this is branded as "Belgiums original beer," it is actually manufactured in the UK, in Luton.
The lager is 5.2% vol, and the can contains 2.6 UK units of alcohol (something that may appeal to the likes of Tange !). lol
There are bigger cans than this available, so be careful you do not over indulge, especially if you are driving the following morning ! The larger cans are more than one pint, but if you are drinking from the can it will be easy to get carried away !
So, what does it taste like I hear you cry - Well, on pouring the liquid from the can into my pint glass, I could not help notice the rather attractive colour of the beer, which is darker than most lagers, and the delicate froth as it settled in the glass. This is where I start salivating !
Unfortunately, a pint of Stella can be a little "flat" as you reach the end. Unlike some other lagers on the market, there is no gadget that enables the lager to keep it's "head" (no jokes please JillMurphy !).
As I still have a cold I cannot smell a great deal but I can taste it and by heck does it taste nice !
The lager itself does have a "thick" texture, due to the strength of it, which I like. Other lagers seem like water by comparison. By the time you have consumed a pint, you know how strong it is ! It should certainly have a significant effect after 2 or 3 pints !
Numerous people have told me over the years that Stella Artois can have nasty effects on people and make them aggressive. However, in my case, it only makes me even more affectionate. After 3 pints I am anyones, after 5+ I am EVERYONES !!!
You may find the taste of the lager a little strong, it depends on what you are used to. If you mainly drink Carling, Fosters or similar, then this will seem like rocket fuel - but that is why i like it !
Unfortunately, not all pubs and clubs sell Stella, so it is not that readily available in some nightspots, but there is no shortage in your local off licence and should help a quiet night in be anything but !

Advantages: Tasty, clean crisp flavour, Moorish, can drink it all night Disadvantages: Expensive, can remain over the limit for driving for the whole of the next day
