Advantages: Fast, efficient and clean - a great way to cook Disadvantages: You must use the right pans on it
If you want a responsive, fast and efficient cooker hob then look no further than this little inductionhob. I have to admit I was really curious when I saw it advertised in the Scotts of Stow catalogue as I hadn't really heard of inductionhobs although I had seen one demonstrated on QVC a little while ago which had intrigued me. This hob was around half the price of the QVC one at just £29.99 so I was keen to find out more and, being something of a gadget freak, that meant doing a bit of research first to see what induction cooking was all about.
Let me stress here that I am not a scientist so for the purists amongst you I accept that my explanation may leave something to be desired but it made sense to me so I hope it will be understandable to others. Basically an inductionhob is an electrically powered cooker hob but it is ...
Advantages: Portable and very efficient, you can cook anywhere you want Disadvantages: You need pans that are compatible
If you want a responsive, fast and efficient cooker hob then look no further than this little inductionhob. I live in an area where there is no gas so 'fast and responsive' has never been available for me as a cooking option for a hob, except of course from my gas barbecue. I actually bought a little portable single inductionhob previously which I loved but it sadly died a couple of weeks ago so I have been on the lookout for a replacement.
About Induction cooking
Let me stress here that I am not a scientist so for the purists amongst you I accept that my explanation may leave something to be desired but it made sense to me so I hope it will be understandable to others. Basically an inductionhob is an electrically powered cooker hob but it is completely different from anything I have seen before. Unlike a traditional ...
Advantages: Works very well, fairly inexpensive, easy to use Disadvantages: Bit runny
A couple of summer's ago, my husband gutted our old kitchen and put me in a nice new one with all the mod cons, including my new halogen hob! He told me I needed to be careful when cleaning it and the maufacturer's instruction for cleaning recommended Hob Brite, by Homecare.
I tootled off to Tesco and found it very easily, in with the rest of the household cleaning products. It cost at the time about £1.25 but it's since gone up in price a little and the last bottle I bought cost me £1.39 from Sainsbury's - the bottle contains 300ml, and to my knowledge does not come in any different sizes.
The first time I used my new hob I'd cooked us all a spaghetti bolognese and there were a few splashes of sauce sprinkled over the hob. I left the hob to cool down before I attempted to clean it, as directed on the bottle's instructions ...

Manufacturer's product description
Designed for table-top use - the slim and compact design is perfect for small flats/bedsits, caravans, boats and offices. Fitted with standard 3 pin UK plug (for mains electricity). SafetyOnly the pan is heated - the ceramic plate will get hot, but only from residual heat from the pan. Removing the pan or turning off the heat allows the plate to cool quickly. Speed / ControllabilityPans heat very quickly and higher than normal temperatures can be reached. Changing from a fast boil to a gentle simmer happens at the touch of a button. There are 7 selectable temperatures (120°C to 240°C) and also precision control of cooking time. EfficiencyEnergy savings compared to conventional hobs can be in the region of 40% to 70%, and it is also space efficient - the induction hob will fit into an area of 34cm x 42cm. About Induction HobsOnly pans that can be magnetised can be used on an induction hob - if a pan base will hold a fridge magnet it is suitable for use on an induction hob.
