Advantages: Great tasting recipes. Easy to follow. It works! Disadvantages: ?
My Mum has been following RosemaryConley's Red Wine Diet for the last year or so. She wanted to lose weight gradually and keep it off, by permanently changing her eating habits. She also hoped to cook lower fat meals for my Dad and help him to lose some weight as they both needed to for health reasons. Having already lost 1 1/2 stone, she now has the confidence to go to a gym.
The basic idea of all the RosemaryConley diet plans is that you choose foods that are low in fat (preferably less than 4%). She adapts this for different lifestyles, suggesting ready meals as well as delicious recipes.
I bought the LowFatCookbook so we had some new recipes to supplement the original plan. It is full of ideas, not only for whole recipes, but for adapting existing recipes to make them lower in fat. She uses Quark (lowfat soft cheese ...

As would be expected of somebody of Rosemary’s calibre, there are the usual acknowledgements to all of the people who made a contribution to the publication of the book. Next comes a few pages of ‘useful information’ – conversions of imperial to metric, comparisons of metric and American measurements, not to forget comparisons of different food names eg aubergine/egg plant, courgette/zucchini.

Advantages: good recipes & clearly written Disadvantages: some recipes are for 1 person & doubling up quantities doesn't work too well
If you are looking to lose weight or just cut down the amount of fat that you eat, then this is an excellent book to get. It starts by giving some facts & information about slimming & cooking the low-fat way as you will need to learn certain techniques. There are food facts as well but the main part is devoted to the recipes. These include breakfast food, food for your main meals & even desserts & cakes that are lowfat. I?ve cooked many of the recipes and there is a good range of different styles & levels of simplicity. Most of all, they taste good and can be served to everyone; those not on low-fat diets will enjoy them just as much. It is a very complete book and looking at the way the various dishes are made up, I have been able to adjust other recipes of old favourites to include less fat. ...
