Background. I have a fantastic (first) grandchild named Riley. I think he might have hollow legs. I help out making and sterilising bottles, but he sometimes runs out of milk. Then I went on holiday just about the same time as my daughter had some decorating done and new carpet laid. In the general hubbub one of the helpers ‘hid’ most of Riley’s bottles. They weren’t found until the work was done and everything restored to its usual place. Thank goodness for Steri-bottles!!!
Availability Available from shops such as Boots and Mothercare as well as on-line from http://www.travellingwithchildren.co.uk/ they come in packs of 4 or 12 packs, although you might only get the 12 packs on-line. There are 3 types, sizes 125 ml and 250 ml with medium-flow teats for babies up to 3 months and 250ml for older babies presumably with fast-flow teats.
Description Each bottle is individually wrapped and sterile and comes with a teat cover.. About the hardest thing is getting one out of its wrapper. Each bottle is tamper proof, can be used only once, and is fully re-cyclable.
caveat: It’s really important to line up the threading on the cap otherwise it leaks all over the baby. I must be really ham-fisted as hard as I try, the cap doesn’t line up very often with the result that we negate most of the environment friendly aspect of using the bottles by having to wrap them up in half-a-trees worth of paper towelling and because the bottles are tamper proof, you can’t unscrew and start again. The instructions are to turn the cap slowly clockwise until you hear 4 or 5 clicks.
The bottles come with a wide mouth which makes them easy to fill on the move and presumably for expressing breast milk (though I haven’t tried this myself ha ha).
Measurements are graded in millilitres on one side of the bottle, and fluid ounces, for those of us still working in imperial measurements, on the other together with full and easy to follow instructions are printed on the pack.
Preparation. As with preparing any baby food, it is important to wash your hands first. If you are in the middle of nowhere http://www.travellingwithchildren.co.uk sell a 200 applicationhand sanitiser for £6.99 which dries almost immediately.
Riley accepted the bottles quite happily. Guess he didn’t care too much as long as they arrived. He seemed perfectly happy with the teats and speed of flow and brought up his wind quickly and effectively after feeding - perhaps even more so than usual - so would guess these are fine for colicky babies?
Storage. Usual rules apply. Made up feeds can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Once re-warmed milk should be discarded after 1 hour. Do not use a microwave to heat the feed, or leave made up feed in sunlight.
Benefits. Leaving aside any difficulties in screwing on the caps, these bottles are fantastic for travelling, camping, holidays, emergencies and good old trips to the shops. It’s really easy to keep one or two bottles and cartons of made up milk in the baby bag, at home, in the car together with some hand sanitiser, at friend’s houses (or granny’s) Never again need you take ready-made bottles out ‘just in case’, or bother about coolbags to keep the milk fresh. Steri-bottles really set you free (at a price).
Price. £1.99 for a packet of 4 250ml bottles. (If you can put a price on freedom, peace and stress-free outings!) Just wish they’d make the caps a bit more foolproof!

I have the same problem, we have used about 12 of these all together and i would say about 9 of them have leaked all over my son. It doesn't matter how hard i try i can not get them to line up properly! Having said that, the ones we have got to work, my son has had no problem with. They are a great idea if only they were a little easier to put together!!

These sound really helpful! Cheers. Christina ;-) x
Advantages: Conventient, easy to use and they can be recycled Disadvantages: You have to open the pack yourself lol. I mean really how can there be a disadvantage to this! Well maybe the teats could be a bit bigger but thats it!!
