I have a lovely padlock, which I use on my chicken coop at night to keep them safe. They are safe in their little coop but I have this surrounded by the wire and padlock the gate to keep the thieves and hooligans out. I bought a good padlock, which the ironmonger recommended to me and it is by Sterling. This padlock cost me £8 and I am very pleased with it and I have had it just over one year.

The padlock I had before this one didn’t last me so long because I found it rusted badly and I was having problems in getting the padlock open on a morning when I was letting my birds out and then problems at 9pm every night when I was closing them up for the night.

I had a choice of colours with my Sterling padlock and I decided to choose the back and grey, though I could have picked a brighter green one or yellow. The size of my padlock is 50mm high and 58mm wide and the shackle is 10.8 mm. It weighs 0.5kg. I chose this padlock because unlike the last one I had, this one is weatherproof and I know it will last longer because of this as the other one wasn’t and as soon as we started top get bad weather and the rain set in, it started to rust badly and I think this is why I couldn’t get my key in the lock. This aggravated me.

It has got two keys so I know I’ll be fine if I lose one of them, but I am very careful with my keys so I doubt this will happen. It is made from protected hardened steel and the shackle is lovely as it is chrome plated. The jacket is weatherproof and it has a lovely brass cylinder. I like it because it has a double locking mechanism and this makes it more secure and it gives me peace of mind that my little chickens will be safe.

This is a lovely padlock and I am very pleased with it and I recommend it to you.
