Great saw! |
|---|
Note that this review is for the 260C model, a variant of the standard 260 and is lighter weight.
What a great saw! It packs a serious amount of power in such a small form factor. I worked one weekend with a 360 then the next with the 260C and the 260 was just as fast and much lighter which meant I wasn't as tired at the end of the day. The light weight is especially nice when working at shoulder height pruning and trimming.
Use the compression release and start lever correctly and it's not hard to start - 3 pulls cold and one hot. The tool-less chain tensioning is great too, very nice for loosening the tension on the chain after the work is done keeping the chain from tightening up as it cools. Changing a chain is fast as well, once you've done it a couple times as it is different than your standard saw.
It's very frugal on bar oil - the bar oil never runs out before the fuel - which means that it's unlikely to run dry if you always fill both.
Specs are available on any Stihl website and my dealer (who uses a 260C as well) says it will handle a 20" bar with ease.
WOW! I found an HS 246 hedge trimmer attachment second hand for this saw and now I have a killer hedge trimmer as well! 150 meters of overgrown macrocarpa hedge from ground to as high as I could reach (about 10 feet!) in under an hour! If you have this saw or buy this saw and need to do serious hedge trimming, look into the HS 246.
