So first a little back ground Stila is a wide make-up range that has celebrity status not just for the quality of products but the packaging that comes with it too Stila's signature look is fresh, polished, and feminine. The line is comprised of a lot of soft, pearly colours with shimmer, although the line does also have matte shades
It was the Stila eye-shadow that I bought in the most gorgeous shade of lavender although the colour is actually called poppy What first attracted me was the packaging of the tin, the eye-shadow comes in a round pan of polished silver (although its not silver but its soooo shiny) Unlike other products from the Stila range the eye-shadow pans do not feature the Stila girl drawings although this is part of what I like about the brand they don't use celebrity picture to endorse the products its an artistic female caricature and that makes the range unique
The eye-shadow is set into the small round aluminium pan, when you lift off the lid which is embossed with a design, the underneath of the lid has a little mini quite in it which was very sweet I think its a common factor in the eye-shadow range
When I got the eye-shadow home I wanted to test it out straight away, I never have been the most patient girl in the world, the eye-shadow is powder compacted to a solid form, its very easy to apply you just sweep your brush across the product and apply direct to the eyes,Unlike other brands it doesn't have the wow factor straight away and the pigment for the eye-shadow wasn't very strong so to get a more dramatic look you would need to apply more, although this would be perfect if you wanted just a simple wash of colour, the powder didn't crease during the day and didn't crumple in the pan either At the end of the day it came straight off with the rest of my make-up when I used make-up remover and wasn't stubbornly left behind which is also good
If you wanted something simple, clean, easy to use with great packaging that you can just pop in your bag then the stile eye-shadow range would be perfect for you, especially when there is such a wide range of colours to choose from
The only sticking point I had that made me reticent about buying the product again is the quite heft price tag of £14.00 for the pan, now I know your investing in the brand itself and the product and followers of Stila would want to keep investing but for me its not the kind of money I would have to spend normally and I was wondering whether perhaps my money would be better spent on cheaper brands where I would get more for my money
Advantages: Gorgeous shades, nicely presented, easy to apply. Disadvantages: High price, doesn't last as long as I would like.
On looking at the Stila counter and dreaming I feel in love.... with an eyeshadow. The colour was a perfect shade of blue (poppy BTW!) and it came in a cute little silver box with a little quote printed inside the lid. Hmmmm..... £14.....? Why not?! So, I went a little crazy and bought it (with my tiny allowance!). When I got it home and tried it out the next day (on it's own) I discovered it glided over really easy with no residue whatsover, as ... ...far really pleased with the results.
Later in the day (about 3 hours later), I discovered on looking in the mirror that it was slightly faded and had gone a little greasy(probably with the oil in my skin).
What I will say, despite this is that the eyeshadow is a good buy and would make a cute present despite the fading, as I later discovered that worn with some eye base underneath the shadow lasts all day. And, who can resist that shimmer??? Not ...

Advantages: Gorgeous neutral colours suitable for everyday Disadvantages: Impractical packaging
When I saw this limited edition trio set at a reduced price on hqhair.com I knew it was perfect for me. Last Autumn Stila brought out 3 limited edition eyeshadow trios, all called Fall in Love. This one is the Cedar Grove version, which contains 3 brown shaded neutral eyeshadow shades - none of which are especially unique, but which form a wonderful basic for those without a huge range of shadows to draw on.
I am a dark haired brunette with very dark brown eyes, so the colours in this set really appealed to me - a dark brown, a metallic chestnut brown and a light creamy colour. All very neutral so suitable for everyday, but with a subtle bit of sparkle - not so much as to scream "teenybopper"! The cream is very light and the sparkle is more noticeable because of this; the chestnut has a beautiful bronze shimmer and the dark brown is ...
Advantages: Cute packaging, practical, easy to apply on the go Disadvantages: No staying power
with such a great design to apply it on the go! I also find that this doesn't work too well on my lips, even with a coat of Vaseline over the top it seems to dry them out a bit and the colour which works so well on my cheeks looks a little odd on my lips. Stila also bill these as being able to use on your eyes - personally I'm a bit loathe to use a pink colour as eyeshadow, but I've tried this with a more brown shade and it was a disaster - the waxy consistency made the product clump around the creases in my eyelid - not attractive.
Stila Convertible Colours cost a massive £23 each - really not worth it when you take into account the fact that they have to be reapplied so often that they don't last long (about 6 months) You can buy them from branches of Space NK, Liberty, or online from www.hqhair.com ...
