When I saw this limited edition trio set at a reduced price on hqhair.com I knew it was perfect for me. Last Autumn Stila brought out 3 limited edition eyeshadow trios, all called Fall in Love. This one is the Cedar Grove version, which contains 3 brown shaded neutral eyeshadow shades - none of which are especially unique, but which form a wonderful basic for those without a huge range of shadows to draw on.
I am a dark haired brunette with very dark brown eyes, so the colours in this set really appealed to me - a dark brown, a metallic chestnut brown and a light creamy colour. All very neutral so suitable for everyday, but with a subtle bit of sparkle - not so much as to scream "teenybopper"! The cream is very light and the sparkle is more noticeable because of this; the chestnut has a beautiful bronze shimmer and the dark brown is chocolate in colour and more matte and is my favourite. The neutral tones mean that they work well with any skin tone, but are particularly nice with my olive tone when combined with just a quick dab of blush and a slick of lip gloss. You can choose to either wear a single colour on its own, or blend the colours together as you wish. The three colours included here mean that it's possible to achieve either an understated look for daytime, or a sexier smokey look for evening.
The colours are very highly pigmented so a little goes a long way, and they last very well through the day.
For the first time ever though, I was disappointed in the packaging. It comes in a gorgeous brown faux leather circular case with a flip lid which contains a mirror. However, there is nothing in place to keep the lid shut so it's impossible to take this with you travelling anywhere as it is bound it crack and spill all over your bag. Very impractical and frustrating as it's such an everyday use product!
I managed to buy this for £14 from hq hair's discount store but I believe at full price it would have cost around £20. Stila products can be bought from Space NK stores, Sephora, or Liberty.
