When we were looking for a cot for our baby daughter, we searched and researched because we knew how important it is to get a good bed. (I have a bad back, so I really understand the difference a good bed makes!) I was checking on the stats of the TrippTrapp chair (which we made up our mind to purchase) on the company website (http://stokke.com/) when I came across this bed. I fell in love with the unique shape and the idea of it being able to grow with your child. My husband on the other hand was looking at the price tag and wasn't too sure. Even though we some what ruled it out due to the cost not fitting in with our budget initially, when we were at the local baby store, we actually checked out this "Sleepi" and how it was really put together and its functional ability. After the several visits and re-budgeting… we were sold!
The mattress was firm and hypoallergenic, it has wheels to be mobile (has brakes too),it is durable and easily adjustable (4 different heights and 2 Styles), had color choices (5) and easy maintenance (mattress being washable and frame being wipable). They give a guarantee for all wood components for 7 years - that's about their estimate of how long it would be suitable for a child. We don't really need to go into great details as you can get the specs yourself online easily. Not only can you get something unique in appearance, but also very good quality. So if you can afford it,there's no need to look for anything else. This one is for you!
Let`s go on a bit about Sleepi's adjustability now. The Sleepi bed itself can only adjust into 4 different height setting depending on your need. Even though the side does not move up and down like many traditional cots, we did not find any need for the side to be lowered. The highest setting was great when our baby was young as you did not have to bend so much to get to your baby. This makes all the difference on your back as the baby grows. Then you can lower the height as the baby began to roll and sit up. Then to the next when baby starts to crawl and pull up to stand. And last when they can stand and walk. Someone thought through this very well. We are at the 3rd position now and that could mean for me to bend to pick her up,but because she either sits up or stands up on her own and I have no need to bend! When I speak of 2 style ability, I am simply speaking based on simple Sleepi cot itself here (not mini). Cot itself on first stage age: 0-2 and 2-3. This adjustment is simple; removing one of the sides for easier access in and out of the bed once your child is "old enough". You will have to determine when that will be, of course. So the style here means that 1) cot has all sides in place 2) one side removed (3 sided). When you go to the website, you can see the difference easily.
However, you can choose to buy additional "mini cot" kit and "Junior Bed" which in turn will increase the adjustability to grow as the child grows. To quickly go over, "Mini Cot" is suggested as the replacement of Moses basket and easy to move to room to room and is significantly smaller (18" in length and 21/2" in width) than the basic Sleepi. The purchase of "Junior bed" kit (some where in the region of 140pd) increases only the length (17.6" in length) from the basic Sleepi. If you are done with Sleepi as a bed then you can convert into a pair of cool looking chairs!
Is it worth getting all the accessories? That is up to your need, I think. Initially we have thought of getting the "Mini Cot" on top of the basics as it had combination package deal. But as we looked around the house and functionality if our need, we decided to opt out for several reasons. 1. Our house is a 2 story and can't get the cot from top and bottom. 2. With our Superking size bed, there was not a comfortable space left between the bed and cot in the MBR. 3. Baby will grow out of it within 6 months. 4. Basic cot (though in good size) can be used from birth to 3y. 5. Cost of getting the "mini" could add about 110-150 depending on where you purchase. (and you know that your expense is great when preparing for the baby especially your first)
We do not regret making this decision. We used a Moses Basket (which was a fraction of the cost) at night and cot during the day while she was little. She started sleeping in the cot by 5 months of age without any problem. I think it simply comes down to what works for you. Though I admit the budget of cot we had for the baby went significantly over by this purchase and had to make some sacrifices elsewhere, but it worth every penny! One bed that will last… 'til 3 or 4 when they are ready for the BIG bed. We are so pleased with our purchase. We do plan to purchase the Jr kit when she grows out of it.
Just a little more… *You will want to read through the User Guide carefully before assembly. It has some information you should know. Also my husband found it was easier to look at the User Guide online to assemble it as you can easily increase the size to see where all the parts are to go. My husband told me that the assembly was straight forward and very easy and did not take long to complete it.

There are some selling the Stokke second hand,so the bargain hunter maybe able find a good deal. Also if the child is very active and shakes the bed, you should check the tightness of screws every so often just to be on the safe side as they suggest.
*fitted sheets for the Sleepi can be a bit tricky due to the unique mattress shape. Also if you leave it in a dryer to dry, it will shrink a bit and make it a struggle to put it back on the mattress. So it would be wise to take the laundry guide and give a little stretch and hung dry.
Advantages: Smart design grows with your child, less bending, long warranty Disadvantages: Instructions rather confusing at times, can only use Stokke's fitted sheets
...This is where the Stokke comes into its own as you can potentially purchase a product that will last from birth until 9 or 10 years old, pretty incredible really. The longevity of this cot does not simply give you a financial saving in terms of not having to buy several different products but I feel it will also help your child to feel more secure in their bed as they grow up, having been so familar with the same surroundings. My own baby has made ... ...it pleasing to note that Stokke seem to have got the height just right with this one.
The supplied mattress is pretty impressive too, it seems to be very comfortable for the baby and the covers can be taken off and washed. Howver, this does bring me to the first drawback; due to the unique size of the cot if you want a fitted sheet you will need to purchase one of Stokke's own ones. I did this initially do this but then discovered that it was just ...

Advantages: Easy to move, Easy to build, Easy to adjust, converts to furniture when no longer needed as a bed Disadvantages: slightly more expensive
From my point of view, this cotbed has been fantastic for both my children. It is quite expensive, but I would say worth it as the quality/build of the product is excellent. It looks great, works well and can be converted into 2 chairs when you no longer need it as a cot. I found it really easy to assemble and adjust. It has two matress heights. The lower mattress position is great because the sides are high and very difficult to climb out of. My ... ...2 1/2yrs old. She loved it! My second daughter loves it too. You can upgrade to the cotbed to make the cot last even longer, this looks like a great option if it suits your circumstances. You can buy fitted sheets from Stokke, but I found ordinary flat sheets work fine. I would recommend this cot to anyone. ...
