quitting, getting there.
Advantages: helps in cutting down, eventually stopping. Disadvantages: none, got to be worth a try.
...the inhalator, i went to boots & collected my starter kit of 1 inhalator & 6 caplules, also a follow on pack of 36 capsules. the inhalator is not much like a cigarette, a bit too stubby & short to hold like one. tha capsules fit in to it very easily, just pull the inhalator apart, push in the capasule & push the 2 parts together again. it,s really simple & quick to do. there is a very detailed booklet that explains everything clearly & concisely. ... ...but i found that i was only using about 4 a day, although i still had about 4 or 5 "proper" cig,s a day as well. the booklet explains that it,s ok to do this, as long as you wean yourself gradually. the taste is really nothing like a real cigarette, but surprisingly it does give you a releif from the craving for a while. I am still in my first week and am quite pleased to have gone from 20 - 30 a day down to 4 or 5, and not to be climbing the walls. ...

The heavy artillery of stop-smoking aids.
Advantages: One of the fastest acting nicotine replacements on the market. Disadvantages: Horrible to use initially. Only takes away cravings - you still need to want to quit.
...be taken as gospel.
Nicorette nasal spray is one of the strongest, fastest acting nicotine replacements on the market. The nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream and hits the brain in about 15 minutes. The theory behind using the nasal spray instead of patches is that patches give you a constant, medium amount of nicotine in your blood, whereas cigarettes give you a massive hit within a minute or two, and then fade away over time. Patches therefore ... ...like heartburn and that horrible "empty-stomach" feeling, but don't do all that much for cravings. Using a spray gives you that "big-hit" (albeit a bit more slowly than cigarettes) so it's good for taking away those acute "got to have a fag right now" cravings. If you have "routine" cigarettes, say during your coffee break, try taking this 15 minutes before. It should help.
The downside is that it's bloody unpleasant to use. For the first couple ...

Old ladys with pins!!
Advantages: the packet is shiny, you dont smell Disadvantages: itching, craving, sarcasm, grumpiness, the stupid price
so a few days ago i decided to have my last cigarette. it was a glorious day and i stepped outside, sat under a tree and smoked my last ever smoke. i was slightly dissapointed that my last smoke had to be a pall mall, but i enjoyed it all the same. i got a packet of seven full strength, 24hr patches thinking that after this week i would be fine and i wouldnt need them anymore. the price pissed me off at $32, i only spend half that on cigarettes a ... ...the first day i didnt use the patches because i wanted to wait untill the next day before i put one on.thinking i could go a day without a smoke easy. so i woke up early the next day after a troubled nights sleep of craving a smoke. had a shower and put one of those bad boys on. all was going fine for about ten minutes. untill it started to itch . . . . .. now this is no ordinary itch, this is the sort of itch that makes you want to smoke. Although ...

Wicked-510 TITAN E-NI or Electronic Nicotine / Cigarette
Advantages: No smell, no tar, no CO2 Disadvantages: Can be expensive at the start, refilling carts can get messy, potentially dangerous
I've tried many electronic cigarettes / inhalators on the market and in its category this in one of the best. The idea behind this sort of device is to give you an alternative to smoking tobacco products, although it is important to mention that these aren't marketed as a smoking cessation device. The Titan 510 is a three piece device made up from a battery, an atomiser and a cartridge. Since using this (and other similar ones) I have not smoked ... ...The batteries are either automatic (in that they activate when you draw upon it like a normal cigarette) or manual whereby you press a button to switch it on. They're often advertised with a life of about 4 hours, but I've found that half this is the case. The atomiser which sits in the middle, despite its space age name, is essentially a tiny heating coil that heats the liquid and produces the vapour that your breathe in. Finally the cartridge is ...
