400 quid for a hob! Yes, but a very nice looking hob.
And, for a while, it was a very nice performing hob too. Easy to use (although the controls are a bit too touch-sensitive, you have to be very light when touching the controls or they don't respond at all) and extraordinarily easy to keep clean because there are no knobs to get covered in the usual spills and other messes that tend to build up in even the best-kept kitchen.
Sadly though, it's just not up to the job it is supposed to do. Like the other reviewer, this hob started beeping and showing an incomprehensible error message. Incomprehensible because the manual is incomplete (although according to a stoves employee on howtomendit.com the '56' error is caused by an inadequate capacitor used on the PCB board). The fact that this is shown on an external website indicates to me that this is not an isolated incident and is perhaps an indication of corners being cut to meet a sales price point.
The customer service line is an 0871 number (which is annoying for anyone who has a land line, let alone anyone who relies on a mobile phone, where you are charged astronomical amounts to use these non-geographical numbers and mobile operators don't include them in calls packages) and the website is not particularly helpful (you can't download product manuals and there is no real way of contacting their aftersales people apart from using the 0871 telephone number)
Because we had some good use out of it, I'd like to give it a better rating. However, because this product seems to be a triumph of style over substance and because of the crap manual, I think it's bloody lucky to get 2 stars.
Advantages: Smooth, clean, modern appearance Disadvantages: PCB failed after 3 years use
...was becoming dated. The Stoves unit appealed because of the clean and modern appearance and I believed Stoves was a name to be trusted.
Fitting was quite easy as it slotted into the same space as the Phillips without cutting the worktop and initially the unit worked satisfactorily. The touch sensitive buttons were slightly unresponsive but not excessively so. However, I did notice that if anything covered the control section (even water) the unit ... ...hob was very easy to keep clean, no fiddly buttons to pull off to clean underneath, and the ceramic very durable. After 3 years of use the surface appeared as clean and smooth as if it were new.
Regretfully the problems started after a power failure. When power was restored the hob began to beep incessantly and an error message 56 appeared on the control panel. No amount of switching on and off or pressing buttons cured the problem and a call to ...

Quick review of Stoves 600CTH
I purchased an expensive, stylish Stoves 600CTH hob less than 3 years ago.
It has developed a fault which causes it to beep and display the number 56.
There is no mention of any fault codes in what I can only describe as a poorly produced handbook.
I called the 0151 helpline number, which has now been replaced by a 0871 number, no surprise there, to be told that a replacement control pcb would be £175!!! Nice business.
At that price I guess the control board must be a PC.
Needless to say I will not touch Stoves again with a barge pole. ...

I also get an error 56 and continuous beeping which means I have to switch both my hob and oven off.
After calling the Stoves help line I am told the motherboard needs replacing at a cost of £250 parts and labour.
After paying £400.00 and only 3 years old I am very dissapointed and would not recommend an expensive hob to anyone. ...

Quick review of Stoves 600CTH
This has got to be one of the worst all time buys ever! I cannot recommend this pile of sewage to anyone; it is rubbish. The touch keys never work, error '56' flashes all the time. The 'help' book misses the Fault Finding section, presumably so that you have to ring the help line. Oh, the numbers changed and they only work till six now M2F. Stick with twisty knobs that you know will never let u down. Error '56' anyone? Seriously, who needs to overcomplicate their lives with this pile of garbage? Stick well clear! ...

Advantages: Looks good and is easy to clean Disadvantages: Hasn't lasted, major delay on replacement PCB part
We bought our Stoves Touch Control Frameless ceramic hob 3 years ago and the PCB has gone. Stoves said it would cost either £250 to fix or we could take an insurance policy that was £100 cheaper and it would cover the cost of the part being fixed and we'd also have a warranty for a year. We took the policy believing this to be a good deal. But part due to come in Jan and has stilll not arrived and it is March. Apart from a call in Jan to say part ...
