... They are graded from A-E (light – full bodied) but I find this a harder scale to go by and most appear to be graded B! However I struck lucky with Stowells of Chelsea Tempranillo. RED WINE TONIGHT, VAMPIRES' DELIGHT

AdvantagesFruity, not as acidic as many reds

DisadvantagesLeaves mouth dry

"...However I struck lucky with Stowells of Chelsea Tempranillo. This particular wine was on a three 75cl bottles for £10 offer at my local Alldays store but its normal price seems to be around £4-£5 per bottle depending on where you buy it. On the whole I find Stowells wines are very good quality and reasonably priced and this one is no exception, it is certainly a brand I am quite loyal to. This Tempranillo is of Spanish origin (La Mancha) region ..." Read review

Raise my glasses!

AdvantagesAffordable & Widely Available

DisadvantagesAn over-rated brand.....

"...thinks Lisa.....I used to drink Stowells all the time, and its at the bargain price of just under £3 a bottle (it costs more than that at the wholesalers), so I was quite impressed and picked one up, and naturally, I'm sharing the results (but not the bottle, sorry!) with my pals on Ciao. Price ------- Unbelieveable at under £3, what a deal! Packaging --------------- Stowells has good brand recognition, and this tempranillo is no different ..." Read review

Drink it by the box!

AdvantagesConsistently good quality wine, excellent value

DisadvantagesPrice can vary between retailers, beware.

"I "discovered" Stowells wines when they offered them at my local Somerfield 3 bottles for £10. I chose 2 white (for the wife!) and a bottle of red for me which happened to be Tempranillo. I went back a bought a futher 3 bottles of just Tempranillo once I had finished the first bottle. Since then, it has become my favourite wine, on my christmas and birthday lists, and i have even bought a few of the 3 litre boxes of the wine (which never seem to ..." Read review

LOVELY LOW PRICED SPANISH RED

AdvantagesEASY DRINKING GOOD QUALITY

DisadvantagesNONE

"I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF SPANISH WINES FOR A LONG TIME AND HAD PREVIOUSLY FAVOURED THE SOFT FRUITY FLAVOUR OF A RIOJA, BUT I FIND THE COLOUR OF THIS WINE A LOVELY DEEP RED BUT IS NOT A HEAVY WINE IN FACT I WOULD SAY IT IS ON THE LIGHTER END OF THE SCALE. IT HAS A SMOOTH TEXTURE WITH SOFT TANNINGS WHICH ALLOWS IT TO BE DRANK WITHOUT A TOO LENGTHY BREATHING PERIOD. THE GENTLE AROMAS OF SPAIN ARE SUPPORTED WITH THE STRAWBERRY AND BERRY CONTENT. THIS FRUITY ..." Read review
