You can imagine that they were not rushing to take up this offer - expensive removal to a more expensive area to live on less money Not one member of Streamline wanted to move down.

I just thought I would point out some facts which are probably not known about streamline. net.
Originally it was a very small company started by the owner , Andrew Dollermore in his father's barn in Derbyshire. It grew rapidly and was doing very well - over about 8 years I believe. Towards the end of the time - Oct 2008 There were about 12 web support staff who covered this service hroughout the day and night every day of the year. They were a nice close-knit group and enjoyed their job in this small family company.

No severance pay was offered and only basic statutary redundancy and the 6 weeks notice. What a lousy way to treat people.Lying is what it amounts to - their jobs were not secure and no support was offered for moving.
Any wonder the staff felt a lack of motivation in the last few months and spent alot of their time looking for another job. I think every person formerly at Streamline was able to find work locally in other companies before the cut off date. My son was oneof those previously employed by Streamline but luckily he has been able to find another job in web design/support in Nottingham and is happy with hisnew job.
So although this is not a proper review of streamlineI I thought people might like to know that it is no longer Stremline at all even though it is still marketed as such - it is actually Fasthost which itself is actually part of a German company, United Internet AG.

Cheap and nasty web hosting to be avoided at all costs. I have been very disappointed with this hosting, I am on a linex server on the most expensive /comprehensive package. So far in the 3 weeks which I have ran my website the linex server have been down several times that I know of (once for the best part of a day). The SQL server has been down for at least half a day that I know of. The email servers have also been down (but at least I got an ... ...for the other incidents, despite numerous support tickets about it. They manage to keep their own site up and running, its a shame they can't do the same for their customers. Another issue (which caused a lot of data to be wiped from my website) is that when I was editing database files (not SQL just old school text based data files on the Perl backend that I run) it wasn't saving them properly on the ftp so they were ending up 0 bytes (wiped) and ...

Price wise their service is very cheap, but their customer support is deplorable and almost non-existence. Their technical support teams are arrogant, unprofessional, technically inept and need to be lead and coaxed at all times.
A portion of our website is the Daily News Section (http://www.cais-soas.com/NewsUpdate.htm), which requires to be updated every few hours, or at least once a day, and though it is still visible over the internet but we ... ...Apparently we cannot publish our website, since the FrontPage Extension has been removed and they cannot reinstall it back for unknown reason! It's now May 6th. Logging the problem with the ticket based support system, we are now into 20+ tickets and the job has been escalated first to senior engineers and now to level 2 (whatever that means)! Advantages: Ok for small hardly visited websites Disadvantages: To numerous to mention!!
Operating 12 web-sites of my own Streamline looked like a good alternative to the many other providers out there given their good value hosting packages. Unfortunately this is as good as it gets and I could write a novel on the negatives involved, however I'll only concentrate on the major issues for now.
If your looking to host a normal web-site that uses html only then you shouldn't have too many problems with them however if you're looking to ... ...definately advise you to steer well clear.
Firstly there is no provision for access to the php.ini file which you'll need to change from time to time depending on your software requirements.
The same applies to php myadmin, agai no access to the ini file which all but stops you running some of the more advanced program types.
Whilst irritating the above falls into insignificance when compared to hosting down-times and I have literally given up ...

Beware of Streamline.net and read the small print. The following is based on my personal experience and I am still in dispute with this company. To begin with, I thought they were a good company providing a good vale service but they seem operate an obscure contract of automatic renewal every two years which can only be avoided if you notify them that you wish to cancel the contract before the automatic renewal date. If you forget, and this unnoticed ... ...30 day only contract. Streamline.net has been awkward and uncooperative during my dispute and has refused to provide me with any account information. Their repetitive mantra is ‘You are contractually obliged to pay us this money’. They can only be contacted in the UK using a 0844 which is a profit sharing dial code. Starting a new business is tough at the best of times - much tougher if you use Streamline.
As a photographer I need a hefty hosting package, so unlimited storage sounded like the answer. However both the quality of product and level of service are left severely lacking.
Setting up accounts is relatively straightforward, but as soon as something goes wrong (and it will) you are very much on your own.
The servers I have been allocated have not ... ...This means that I cannot successfully run ANY of the important online parts of my business - shopping carts, contact forms, nothing interactive works. For these I have been forced to purchase another hosting package with Compila (who are very good). The very same scripts work perfectly on Compila's servers.
When I approached Streamline (time and time again) to ask for help, they insisted that it must be my fault. I knew it wasn't but their 5-word ...
