I have drunk cidar for years, either through the day if I'm going for lunch with my pal Tracey, or the week before pay day when I'm skint!
I have tried many varieties, including Scrumpy Jack, Magners, Blackthorn, Auld English, Woodpecker, and Tesco Organic Cidar...

I find Strongbow is one of the best as its very appley, has a beautiful golden colour, and is a good strength at 5.3%

I would recommend it is drunk when chilled and with ice. I bought 3 cans at 55p each! I think this is a bargain! from Tesco. I had a difficult day at work and this was very cheap to help me wind down while watching telly. I also sometimes take the one can to band practise on a Friday as it is very reasonably priced.

Strongbow is sold in a distinctive gold and black can. It is made by the same company who manufacture bulmers and magners, although the taste is quite different. I think Strongbow is more fizzier than the Magners, and the colour is more golden than orange, it also tastes sharper.

The apples used for Strongbow are a different variety - it uses bitter sweet apples and sweetners to give a dry/fresh taste. I couldn't drink this on a night out for several hours as it does give quite a bad hangover... I do recommend it for a few drinks as it can be very refreshing!

Strongbow is produced by Bulmers - the world's largest Cidar maker! The company was founded in 1887 in Hereford, England by Percy Bulmer, son of a clergyman! Percy made 4000 gallons of cidar in the first year. Bulmers now makes 65% of the 5 million hectolitres of cidar sold annually in the UK. Bulmers sell there cidar in USA, Scandanavia and the Far East!

Research has proven that cidar has healthy benefits!! There are high levels of antioxidants in cidar - there are the same amount of antioxidants in a half pint as there are in a full glass of red wine. Antioxidants help protect against diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. A pint of cidar = 2.5 units and women are allowed 2-3 units a day. Men are allowed 3-4! (lucky buggers)
