Don't pay too much to touch knobs!
Review of Behringer Eurorack UB1204FX-pro by
Radical-Machine
Advantages: Excellent Value for Money - Quality PreAmps
Disadvantages: Headphone Volume Controlled By Control Room Out Knob
As a Music Production Student, I'm looking for the best "spec vs price" with a little durability lobbed in!
*************************************************************
Ok, you're picky, brilliant. What inputs are available to me?
*************************************************************
Well, this desk is (effectively) an 8-channel mixer with 2 subgroups. It has 2 main outs, 2 control room outs and 2 subgroup outs.
In the breakdown, this ... ...own "Invisible Mic Preamp". You can plug in mic cables (XLR) or instrument cables (1/4 Jack). Each channel has it's own Gain control and "lo-cut" switch. This cuts 18db at 75Hz for those noisy, humming guitars!
The other channels are stereo, so although it's an "8 channel" mixer, the last four are stereo-d to 2 channels. This is obviously useful for plugging in components that have stereo outputs: CD players, etc. However, if you want to use mono ...

Pioneer DJM 500
Review of Pioneer DJM 500 by
benaldo3333
Advantages: Build quality, built in effects, sound
Disadvantages: Not enough decent effects, sound is not as good as other newer mixers
...of these or a similar Pioneer product? I think not. I believe the advantages of the Allen & Heath Xone series outweigh Pioneer's mixers. Even so, I will still have a place in my heart for the DJM-500 as it was my very first mixer. I highly recommend this mixer to anybody who is starting out and want a mixer which is built like a brick and sounds good. ...

Incredibly good, good value, all-purpose mixer.
Review of Behringer MX-1604A by
kurowski
Advantages: Good sound quality, great value
Disadvantages: Mid EQ band can't be changed (minor niggle)
I bought my Behringer MX1604A in January, with the view to producing an Internet radio show. It has fulfilled this purpose very well, and is now also a permanent part of my hi-fi system. You get an awful lot for the £130 I paid.
The Behringer Eurorack MX1604A comes in an unassuming white box, printed on in black with a picture of the mixer, and details of all its features. Inside the box, however, is a shiny silver powdered aluminium mixer that ... ...The MX1604A is described by Behringer as a 16-channel mixer. You get four mono microphone (mono XLR or 6.3mm balanced or unbalanced jack) inputs, and four stereo (balanced or unbalanced jack) inputs, all controlled by 60mm faders, which are nicely shaped, and have just the right amount of friction in their movement - you can bring them up or down as quickly or slowly as you wish. Each channel has a 3-band equaliser assigned to it. The microphone ...

Allen and Heath GL3300 - Great piece of kit.
Review of Allen&Heath GL3300 by
mark1961
Advantages: Can give great mixing recording.
Disadvantages: A lot can go wrong - you need to always watch what is going on.
Allen and Heath GL3300
One of my all-consuming passions is the fascination with good quality audio sound and I have spent a lot of money on home Hi-fi in trying to perfect this. When I was approached by a member of the Church audio team (September 2003) to assist in the setting up of the audio system in the new Church I was over the moon, and could not wait to get my hands on the equipment. This training night for the new equipment was in the Church ... ...arrived for the training night and it soon became obvious that there was only myself and another man who was ok with the technology and were confident in the technical terms being used by the installer, the other two men slowly made their was out of the Church. I think it was the site of the Allen and Heath GL3300 Mixer desk, which put them off.
Over the next two nights the two of us got to a basic understanding of the desk and were able to cope ...

Great value
Review of Behringer DX 1000 by
Albinorhino
Advantages: lasts forever, has everything needed easy to run
Disadvantages: not as many bells and whistles or as many choices in fiddling with sound
At almost 10 years old one can look at the mixer and tell that it is old. Many people want the smaller stylish mixers but this mixer has served the bar faithfully since the day we opened in 2000 and has been put through the grinder in tests to break it.
It is larger but due to that everything looks more spaced out and you ahve room to plug in all your inputs and outputs without getting frustrated. To anyone familiar with sound equipment it is easy ... ...bit confusing.
The cross fader is a dream when you are running two seperate single disc cd players and the fine tuning on the sound is acceptable even though you do not have as much choice as the newer boards give you.
Many knobs are missing on our mixer due to the dj table breaking and the mixer hitting the ground but it still holds up the test of time.
It also pushes out quite a nice sound especially when figuring everything we are running is ...
