Advantages Spacious and fast
Disadvantages EVERYONE has one.
I am a true petrol head and had to have a scooby. I bought a used 93 WRX Turbo. The problem is due to the grey import market they are EVERYWHERE. If you want a car that is a bit different DONT get an Impreza. If you have to have one:...............
The driving position is very comfortable making it very easy to control when putting the car through its paces. With 4 wheel drive you stick to the road, however if you are not used to 4wd it can be an extremely alarming experience. (personally I prefer front or rear wheel drive as they are less twitchy) The excelleration is rapid giving a great deal of whoohoo factor.
Unfortunately scooby's are admired by most young boys and you are constantly harrassed by souped up corsa's revving their nuts off thinking they can race you.
The engine, being a flat 4 type sounds wierd, some people love it, I thought it sounded like a sewing machine. Fuel consumption was not as bad as I had expected but as my last 2 cars were 2.5 turbos I am probably not the best guide but I was getting around 20 miles to the gallon. Be careful of smokey turbos on abused cars replacements cost mega bucks. The interior looks so cheap and plasticy however the seats are superb. You are an insurance company's dream but bear in mind most will not insure the under 25's. As with most jap cars they are built to last however if they do go wrong the parts cost quite a bit. If you need to have a service done by the main dealer (i.e to keep the history going), sit down before they tell you the price as it will make your legs weak.
To sum up the scooby is a middle aged boy racer car for those who don't want any style just grunt.

I would much rather a Lancer, looks better and as you say scoobies are everywhere and getting boring now, especially with them stupid flat spoilers ! regarding servicing, depending on where you go a 2.0L Sport will cost you around £400, dread to think what the turbo's cost.
good op staz x
