Oooh cringe at the title of my review, I could'nt think of anything else, sorry!
The Subaru Justy was the first car I ever bought. It was silver, E reg and cost me £300. I needed a little car to get me around while I was at Uni, and a car to get me back home at weekends.
Now, prior to this car, I was driving my dads HondaCRX, and boy! did I notice the difference once I got into this.
The Justy has a 1.2 petrolengine, but it is only 3 cylinder. I affectionately compared it to a lawnmower engine! It was very economical, doing about 45/50 mpg.
One very good feature of this car was the changeable 4WD. The majority of the time, you drive around in 2WD mode, but if you take it off road (in a field was my only experience of this) or on ice or snow, you can switch it over to 4WD mode. To change modes is very simple. There was a little red button on the top of the gear knob, and if you pushed this in, then you switch to 4WD. This was fantastic on the snow and ice, and the Justy would grip the road extremely well.
It does look a little dated now, the interior was adequate, with sufficient boot space and leg room, but no 'mod cons' such as electric windows. I am sure that Subaru would have added these in later models.
The ride was ok, nothing really stood out, good or bad. The only thing I will say, is that it's hardly the fastest car on the block acceleration wise, but it would get you there eventually and was quite capable of a steady plod up the motorway.
I had my Justy for around 2 years. It was very reliable, started first time, every time. It passed it's MOT's with only a little bit of welding doing on it both times, on the wheelarches, but I didn't think this was too bad, considering the age of this car. Like I said, I kept this car roughly 2 yrs, and I ended up selling it for £500. Got to be happy about that! Plus, the bloke that I sold it to had it for about 4 yrs afterwards!
