Subway is a franchise restaurant that primarily sells sandwiches and salads. It is the fastest growing franchise in the world, with over 30,000 franchises in 88 countries. It was founded in 1965 by Fred De Luca and Peter Buck.
The main food sold in this store are sandwiches which are called 'subs'. These are fully customizable, there are many different types of bread to choose from, and you can also choose to have a 6-inch or a 12-inch sandwich (often called a 'footlong'), depending on your hunger.
There are many different options of what to put in your sandwich, so everyone should be able to find at least one thing they like. They have more basic stuff like, chicken, ham and bacon, but also fillings like tuna and meatballs. For a healthier option they also have a wide variety of salad, including cucumber, lettuce, onion and sweetcorn. To top it all off, there are many sauces to choose from including ketchup, mayonnaise, salad dressing and honey mustard sauce. All this adds to a great sandwich, where you can put as much or as little on it as you want.
There are a few niggles for me though, unless you have one of their 'subs of the day', it does seem quite expensive, over 3 pounds I think. There are local shops that will do sandwiches and stuff cheaper than that, but I guess they charge what they think they can get. The decor is rather plain, as are the seating arrangements, with just plain booth and wooden seats, but I'm probably just spoiled by Starbucks.
They are good for anyone who is looking to eat more healthily, of course you do have to make sure you don't overload your sandwich with lots of fillings. If you can just have a relatively plain sub with a little sauce then it can serve as a very tasty snack, but remember, it will have as many calories as you decide to put in.
Overall a great shop with tasty sandwiches, highly recommended if you haven't been in one before, five stars!
