About It seems now that subway are everywhere, the sandwich company that came from nowhere and within a few years are now one of the most popular fast food places in the UK. Subway can be more expensive than other fast food places depending on what you buy but with the introduction of 'The Sub of the Day' it seems that subway can be just as affordable as Mc Donalds or the Burger King.
Subway is different to other fast food restaurant as you can chose how your sandwich is made and watch it being prepared.
There is a sequence of steps that are followed in making any sandwich, firstly you choose your bread, you can choose from a range of breads including Italian, Italian Herbs and Cheese, Honey Oat, Parmesan Oregano, and Wheat Bread. Then you choose your filling, subway has loads of great sandwich types such as Italian BMT which contains ham, pepperoni and salami, The Chicken and Bacon ranch (no prizes for guessing what fillings are in this sandwich, and ,many more including a vegetarian option called the Veggie Delite. Then you choose on whether you want cheese on your sandwich, there are three different types of cheeses to choose from including Montreal Cheddar, Peppered and Mozzeralla cheese. Next you are asked if you want your subway toasted or not. Then you are asked what additional toppings you want on your subway, some of these include peppers, red onions, stuffing, lettuce, chilli, olives and more. Lastly you are asked if you want any sauces on your sandwich, sauces offered include barbeque, brown sauce, south west, honey mustard and sweet onion. Finally you are asked if you would like any salt or pepper added and then your subway is wrapped and ready for you to eat.
Advantages of Subway is that you can see how your sandwich is being prepared, that the service is good and that you can benefit from the 'Sub of the Day' sandwiches which is when a sandwich is £1.99 for 6 inches which is great value, a different sandwich is the sub of the day every day. Drinks are also refillable which I think is a great plus compared to most other fast food restaurant s in the UK.
However salt contents can be very high in subs even though the fat content is low, a study of subway sandwich compared to a Mc Donalds burger showed that there was not much difference in salt content. Sub way sandwiches can also be very expensive if you decide that you want to pick your own fillings instead of choosing from the list off the menu of different subs.
Subways also make wraps, soups and a range of different cookies which gives you more choice if you decide to visit and do kids sized meals and sandwiches which include a small sandwich, a drink and a toy.
Subway always deliver on taste and give you a great selection of fillings and foods that are freshly made, it is a great place to eat with the family but be careful because it can be quite expensive sometimes and also they have a lot of hidden salt in them so they may not be as healthy as you think

Haven't tried any of the UK branches yet, but we loved their subs when we visited the States a couple of years ago. Makes a change from the usual pre-packed sandwiches.

I quite like the turkey salad on the cheese and herb bread and at £1.49 its quite an reasonable price.

Advantages: Freshly made, reasonable price, good range of food, often good service Disadvantages: Franchised outlets can vary in staff and hygiene quality, some subs can be expensive
