...Zanussi FLE 1416 W - XC (Xtra Capacity) Being a mum in full time work is difficult enough without having to worry about household appliances going on the blink! This was the case with my trusty 10 year old washing machine. It was a lottery to see if the thing would work without it sticking half way through a wash. Enough was enough. I decided to dispose of the archaic, unreliable old washing machine and bite the bullet and buy a new one. From the outset, I decided that the new machine would not have the old fashioned dial type control, as this was causing the problem with my original machine. I wanted state of the art push button simplicity – and a few snazzy lights too if possible! Basically, it had to be husband proof. ...my substandard Indesit, my new Zanussi has a wonderfully up-to-date computer controlled selection panel. Just a few button presses and the machine starts. I was impressed, couldn’t they make a video as easy to programme as this? Here we go, my report on the machine: My first impression on looking at the machine when finally out of the packaging was extremely impressive. Finished in Polar White, it instantly fitted in with my kitchen and didn’t look out of place. The FJD1666W is a model in Zanussi’s new range of XC6 machines. The XC6’s offer a larger drum to cope with a 6kg load. ...About 19 months ago I took the plunge and purchased my first home and thus needed to fill the kitchen with appropriate 'White Goods'. We wanted something that would be easy to use, have a high spin rate (as the weather in South Wales often means your washing gets wetter as a result of putting it out) and was not reasonably priced. After a tour of all of the usual retailers we opted for the Zanussi (Electrolux) Jet system 1400 XC (The XC stands for 'Extra Capacity' as the drum is slightly larger than on other models). The machine was easy to set up. Just remove the packing, connect the single water pipe (it only has a cold connection as it heats the water up itself) and plug it into the mains and the machine is just as easy to use too.
