Manufacturer's product description
The Sun Fire V440 server is a data center class, entry server that is powered by up to four UltraSPARC IIIi processors. Features such as six PCI slots, two 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet ports, up to 4 disk drives, and 16 GB of memory, prove that the rack-optimized Sun Fire V440 server has the capacity to meet the needs of compute intensive applications. The Sun Fire V440 server also contains high availability and manageability features in a compact, 4U package. Hot-plug, front-accessible disk drives, redundant hot-plug power supplies (with independent cords), a system configuration card that permits easy and quick identity transfer enhance the Sun Fire V440 server's uptime. Easily visible system and component LEDs provide serviceability features that help enable quick diagnosis and repairs, while the system's Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM) provides remote management and diagnostic capability.

Advantages: Cheap entry level Sun SPARC from 1997 Disadvantages: Build quality is PC like, and low cache processors
...-
There are three 5V, 32 bit PCI slots inside the workstation.
For a desktop workstation, this is adequate, although it is very difficult to use full lenght PCI cards, like the Sun PCi board in the machine. Framebuffers, qfe, hme and SCSI boards generally fit in fine though. (As I mentioned earlier, I have two raptor framebuffers in my Ultra 5).
Build quality -
The build quality of this box is unlike anything Sun had produced at that time. It's like that of a PC. None of the usual refinements of the SPARCserver and SPARCstation ranges. The case can be crowded when you install several PCI cards, or a second drive. That said, it was the entry level workstation at an exceptionally low price point.
Software -
Solaris 2.5.1 (11/97) up to Solaris 10 (current version) will run on this hardware. Various flavours of BSD and Linux will also run on SunUltraSPARC...

Advantages: Performs Well Disadvantages: Expensive
...I wrote this a while, back so I am now publishing it on ciao but it is still fairly up to date. I spend a long time writing this. 1 hour:
After a simultaneous processor release early in 2002, both Intel and AMD are settling back into the standard pattern of trying to beat the other to the punch. Intel impressed us with the Pentium 4 Northwood, as well as jumping a full 200 MHz with the Pentium 4-2.2 GHz. AMD followed this up with their Athlon XP 2100+, which once again had the juice to slip by the fastest Intel had to offer.
The last shot was fired by AMD, so naturally it should be Intel's chance to step up to the plate. And from first glance, Intel seems to be carrying a mighty big bat. With the release of the Pentium 4-2.4 GHz we're seeing yet another 200 MHz speed increase from Intel, which puts even more pressure on the Athlon XP...

Advantages: Decent spec Disadvantages: Has a few downsides, battery etc.
...This is the laptop that i currently own and am on right as we speak.
i've had it since christmas time which is when i got it in the sale for around 400 pounds. In my opinion it is a good laptop but it has a few downsides. Firstly, the screen is a very glossy one whch means that yes, it does keep the sun off of it, but it also means that it gets scratched very easily.. ANother problem is the battery, it will last for only around 2 hours when it should really last for about 3 hours in total, and this is only when im using it for the internet. The processor is fairly decent though, and the RAM makes up for the problems as its very quick on the net....

▀ ▀ ▀ The low end processor market. ▀ ▀ ▀
The low end processors market is not as greatly disputed such as mainstream and high end processor market and also if you noticed few reviews are written about them, few more
I for one, absolutely love the look of this acer. The bottom of the laptop just looks really cool, and the top looks ok too. One only criticism on the look, would be that the plastic at the tip of the screen is a little thick, but then again it does have more
A fully featured VAIO notebook for under £500. This has to be worth looking into. Sony VAIO Notebooks are famous for being industry leaders but also for being overpriced. Now this Laptop has the quality and stylish look as do all VAIO's but not the price more
