I've got my desk back
Review of LG Flatron L1717S by

Advantages: Great colour, Great resolution, great design
Disadvantages: None at all
...I've been using a SUN Microsystems 19inch monitor for years, great resolution, great colour, and it allowed dual input (my PC and my SUN). I found though that my home office was getting really hot with it on, also the power consumption was quite high, so me being me and being an environmentally friendly sort of chap decided to update my monitor. I've found some emulation software, so I don't need a dual input monitor anymore, as long as my PC and my SUN are on the same network, I can "drive" them both.
*** What is it ***
The monitor I decide to go for was an LG Flatron L1717S. I paid £159.99 for it from PC World - OK I'm sure I could have got it cheaper elsewhere, but I saw it, I liked it, I bought it!! And to be honest, I couldn't be bothered to look around. (no I didn't take out the "optional" cover)

(I thought it was) An Improvement On My Old Tank!
Review of Samsung SyncMaster 713BM by

Advantages: Initially it was a huge improvement on my old monitor
Disadvantages: Very poor and slow manufacturer support
...-ray tube is what my old monitor (aka the tank) was.
TECHNICAL INFO
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me get the technical stuff out of the way first; it doesn't mean a lot to me as I'm not really a very technical person (especially when it comes to monitors), but it might mean something to a potential buyer, so hopefully this will help you in your choice…
The Samsung SyncMaster 713BM is a 17 inch TFT LCD monitor which can be wall mounted if required. It weighs about 10lbs (or just over 4 kilos) and offers a native screen resolution of 1280x1024. It has a typical 700:1 high contrast ratio and 300cd/m2 brightness. With a typical 8ms response time the monitor has both analog and digital inputs and also has integrated stereo speakers. It's compatible with Windows, Macintosh and Sun Microsystems and has a built in power supply. Oh yes, I'd add here...
