I'm Steve, and I am an IT Contractor - emphasis on the con. (The photo was taken when I worked in the US...) I do like my electronic toys. Home cinema, projector, various computers... I was introduced to ciao by my adoptive big sister unixgirl.

Here we have a handy little 1U disk cage, which will take up to three Ultra SCSI drives. Oh, and it's NEBS compliant, so you can put in datacenters and telephone exchanges.
SCSI ports -
Two single-ended ports, 68-pin SCSI connector - Can be daisy chained via port (2 max in a chain)
Power -
The disk cage can be powered by AC or DC power. (I used the AC model) which has an auto sensing power supply - takes 100 to 240 VAC. There is also a DC model, to go with the Netra range... The DC model will take -48 to -60 VDC.
Drives -
The drives are inserted at the front of the 19" rack mounted unit, SCA disks, on Sun SPUD type brackets. The SCSI bays are either ID 2,3&4 or 10,11&12 which is flexible enough if you have to chain two together.
Uses -
People will find these most useful as a chassis to put boot disks in for larger Sun syste,s, like the E6500, ot some extra disks for a Netra, where hardware RAID isn't required.
Rackmount -
You can rack this unit in 19" and 24" racks. Obviously you don't *have* to track it, but I can tell you it is very nice seeing two of these in an E6500 holding the system disks!
Conclusions -
This is a well built product from Sun, and very handy for its intended purpose - but if you need more disk space, you need to look at a larger disk array!

Hi, as mentioned below, also you might want to explain NEBS and other acronyms used, also what a SUN is, and maybe compare with a Windows based machine (which most people will have) I personally have 3 of these, 3 Blades, 6 Ultra 10's and a bunch of other stuff!! Larry

Hi, remember not everyone is a techie like us. Don't mean to sound harsh, only trying to help. Might be worth explaining how these would be used and in what situations. Also what price were they when they were released, price on the second hand market. Would they have any use to an individual or small company. If you edit this I will re-rate it. N.x
