Manufacturer's product description
The state-of-the-art UltraSPARC II processor is the second generation in the UltraSPARC s-series microprocessor family. A complete implementation of the SPARC V9 architecture, the UltraSPARC II processor is binary compatible with all previous versions of SPARC processors, resulting in an increased return on your investment. Designed for scalability from mainstream workstations at the low end up to supercomputing servers at the high end, the UltraSPARC II processor delivers high performance and reliability. Meeting and exceeding the demands of today's compute-intensive, network-centric, multimedia-rich applications, the UltraSPARC II processor implements innovative technologies that help lower the end user's total cost of ownership. The UltraSPARC II processor micro architecture is designed to provide up to 4-way glue less multiprocessing support and supports up to 64-way systems. The processor supports multiple L2 cache speeds and sizes to enable high-performance multiprocessing systems. A highly scalable, high-performance system interconnect ensures a bottleneck-free computing environment resulting in high memory bandwidth. VIS (Visual Instruction Set) multimedia extensions boost the performance of graphics-intensive multimedia applications, and thus reduce overall system costs by eliminating the need for a special-purpose media processor. And the UltraSPARC II delivers superior raw compute performance by using the most innovative RISC microprocessor architecture and state-of-the-art process technology. The UltraSPARC II processor not only helps the system designer by implementing industry-standard testing and instrumentation interfaces, it also uses Error Checking and Correction (ECC) and parity to increase system reliability. With high performance, high scalability, and high reliability, the UltraSPARC II is the processor of choice for today's workstations and servers.
Advantages: Cheap entry level Sun SPARC from 1997 Disadvantages: Build quality is PC like, and low cache processors
...The SunUltraSPARC 5 workstation was brought out in 1997, and was priced so you could have one on your desk for approx 1000 US Dollars. They stopped shipping to customers in May 2002. These days, it is not a fast machine, but still they are perfectly useable for many workstation and server tasks.
Processor and Memory -
This model has an UltraSPARC IIi processor which is, of course, 64 bit and is clocked at 360 MHz. You can have 1GB of memory in the workstation, installed as up to 4 DIMMS, which must be installed in pairs. "Normal" PC memory will not work in these workstations. The 260MHz model only has 256kB cache (same with the 270MHzprocessor) For better performance, you need the 2MB cache version on the 333 or 400MHz versions.
Storage -
There is one HDD bay in the machine, although if you remove the floppy drive, you can put...

A top chip! Review ofIntel Pentium III 1.13 GHz processorby
merkus77
Advantages: fast, new Disadvantages: expensive
...I upgraded from an Intel Pentium II450mhz to the new Intel Pentium III 700 mhz mainly because of the upgrade offer at a low cost. I found that immediately there was a noticeable difference and just the way in which my computer carried out every day tasks like opening programs and the likes seemed to fly through as if my old chip was carrying 4 suitcases with it on it's chores! I find no problems at all with it and I would seriously recommend it to anyone after a high speed processor with lightning speed and good capabilities....

Advantages: They are very powewrful processors Disadvantages: Too expensive
...I'm not if AMD have done this but Intel definitely have.
When they introduced the PIII 450MHz for the first time, they did not mention to the public that it was only 10% faster than it's little brother the Pentium II450MHzprocessor.
When the gigahertz processor was introduced, it was tested by a popular computer magazine. I found the results to be surprising. In some areas of performance the Gigahertz processor was SLOWER than the 850 MHzprocessor.
When ever a new processor is introduced it is always overpriced. This overpricing is not little it is ridicously high. A month or two after the release the prices drop massively. Then soon after a new processor is introduced, faster and more powerful. When this show will end who knows.
These very powerful processors don't even operate to maximum performance because of the operating...

These are the first jumbo sized headphones that I have ever bought. Previously I have had to replace the in-ear headphones every 4 months. This is because I tend to listen to my music at a fairly high level, and after a short time, they begin to produce... more
I purchased this phone for work in Oct 2005. I needed one that had a built in answerphone, and one that was not too expensive. This one seemed to be the one.
In April 2006 the phone completely stopped working - the screen went blank - none of the... more
I have had my Indesit now for approximately nine months. It was allegedly "free of charge" with the kitchen I bought, (obviously we are all to simple to work out the price of the kitchen is hiked up to cover it). Any way. here is my opinion of the... more
A fantastic speaker! I use two of these mainly for my band and have found them to sound exceptional for the price. They have a really wide dispersion meaning that everyone in the room can hear the highs, as well as the lows, which believe me are not... more
