I am not a regular reader of the Sunday papers, but lately I have taken to purchasing The Sunday Times. The price is currently £1.10 and what good value this newspaper is, in fact I tend to read it over a few days, as there is so much to take in!
What do you get for your money? You get a newspaper, which tries to give the facts behind the latest news stories, also a wide range of articles, which because of their variety would probably appeal to everyone in the family. Whatever it’s political leaning, it is worth a read for the quality of the writing.
Here is a list of what’s included in the Sunday edition: - Each heading has it’s own separate paper -
THE SUNDAY TIMES – The newspaper proper, political news from home and abroad, also articles from the world of science – medicine – education; The latest edition covers topics such as war crimes investigations in Kosovo, an attempt to rectify the “lean” on the Leaning Tower of Pisa, a possible link to Autism from certain vaccines, and a spy uncovered within the organisation of Greenpeace. I found the articles to very interesting and informative.
MONEY – Lots of useful information on the latest stock market trends, bank charges and bank practices, tax matters, savings, unit trusts; The latest edition covers topics such as the Post Office scrapping commission fees on foreign currency, diary of a Day Trader, Mortgage advice and much more!
SPORT – Pick of The Week Sport on TV, Rowing, Cricket, Football, Pools Results, Racing and a Motoring section with classified ads.
TRAVEL – This week win a camping holiday in France; The best way to complain about a bad holiday experience, a feature on life in Iran from a Westerners viewpoint, Holiday ads, Airline ads etc.
APPOINTMENTS – Several pages of job advertisements, plus features on IT Graduates, Learning for Life and boys lack of interest in reading in comparison with girls.
PROPERTY – Obviously there are the usual property ads, but also interesting articles which are related in some way to the subject, i.e.: - Self build Swedish kit homes in rural Wales, finding an Architect on the cheap, and the price of property on Holy Island. Plus an article on protesters who are objecting to building on green belt land in East Anglia.
NEWS REVIEW – Features articles on Fathers Day, Madonna’s biography by Andrew Morton, a back to old fashioned teaching project in the USA, and an article on Mary Archer and how she has conducted herself so well in the light of her husband’s alleged wrong doings. There is much more, but I hope you get the idea!
BUSINESS – A mixed bag of articles, not short on variety though; topics on sexual harassment, environmental laws, the planned sale of shops by M&S to raise a few million quid. Plenty to think about in this paper too!
DOORS – The weekly magazine devoted to the Internet, with advice on ISP’s, online gambling sites, online gaming and a look at various web sites.
CULTURE – A look at the latest books, films. Plays, shows, TV, radio, music, ballet, plus in depth articles on various personalities and performers.
STYLE – Beauty tips, fashion, society, food, furnishings, gardening, fitness and health. Something for everyone in this section.
THE SUNDAY TIMES MAGAZINE – Articles on Hear’ Say, Photograph of The Week and the story behind it which this week is the children of Chernobyl, also a feature on a lock-keeper at Thames Lock who is a woman and a former long-distance lorry driver, plus a puzzle page and yes, much more.
THE FUNDAY TIMES – This is the regular cartoon pull out which has stories for the youngsters, and pieces related to pop stars such as Robbie Williams and Destiny’s Child, plus a couple of competitions.
All this good quality reading I think you’ll agree is worth the price of £1.10. If you haven’t yet tried this Sunday paper, give it a go it’ll keep you entertained for hours!!!!!
Be warned though, this is a large paper and you need lots of elbow room!
Advantages: Tremendous value for money Disadvantages: Poor circulation sales
...newspapers. I progressed onto ‘the Sunday Express’ which I read for a couple of weeks.
When I started work in 1984 I had moved on to ‘the Observer’. But a friend of my aunty said that ‘Observer’ readers were snooty so I gave that up.
As I had only 30 minutes lunchbreak I could read ‘the Sun’ and finish my lunch within this time.
In 1986 I moved to an IT firm which had Oxford and Cambridge graduates ... ...I started buying ‘the Sunday Times’ to increase my intellectual ability. It took 5 days to read my first copy. But the jump up from tabloid to broadsheet reading proved too much for me. I went back to the tabloids.
At the back of my mind I felt that I was doing the right thing as 5 million people bought ‘the News of the World’ every Sunday as opposed to 1 million for ‘the Sunday Times’.
In 1994 I started to read ...

The Sunday Crimes Review ofSunday Times [TV Advertisement]by

Advantages: Weighty, wide variety of sections, quality of writers Disadvantages: Right-wing, unionist, owned by Murdock
...read I have read the Sunday Times every week. My father has bought it every Sunday, almost religiously, even before I came on the scene, so I had little choice. But now I’m a student, away from home and still buying it for myself.
At this point I would like to point out that I completely disagree with the politics of The Sunday Times. I believe Rupert Murdock to be almost as big and evil a megalomaniac as the villain based on him in the Bond ... ...so to not buy The Sunday Time sin protest would be very hypocritical.
The Sunday Times is a very big paper. Along with the conventional main section seen every day of the week is a wealth of other sections. For £1 it represents very good value. If I was to follow my weekly buying habits I would by the Observer, but I positively choose the ST because it represents the polar opposite to what I believe in.
The main section constantly offers its racist, ...

Do not miss it Review ofSunday Times [TV Advertisement]by

Advantages: Content, analysis, variety Disadvantages: Some crappy bits
...advert strapline always says "The Sunday Times Is The Sunday Papers", and they're absolutely spot on. The paper gives extremely good value for money for its cover price of just £1.10. If you're too tight to fork out that much, then you can get the whole lot online each week at www.sunday-times.co.uk - I'm going to consider in detail the edition from May 13 2001, number 9,220. I started getting the ST regularly about five years ago and I've stuck ... ...somehow just tradition, like the Sunday roast, to have a lie in with the Sunday paper. I'm going to give a brief summary of the individual sections now so that you know exactly what you're getting for your dosh. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Main Newspaper ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The ST does the news extremely well, with very good writing and reporting, including excellent analysis of the implications and meaning of the events it ...

Advantages: Interesting, Something for everyone Disadvantages: Weight for the poor news deliverer's
I only but the Sunday Times as it's the only day I really get to sit down and relax properly, so I prefer something that contains more than just scandal, lies and fornication material!
The Sunday Times is a tabloid paper; well worth the current price of £1.20 as it contains 8 sections plus 3 magazines. At the end of each mammoth read it serves well to line my girlfriends cat litter tray.(Hence the title of my opinion)
= SECTION ONE =
... ...this is devoted to the Sunday Times Enterprise Network which case studies a small business and offers improvement advice from a board of well known faces from big name companies.
= SECTION FOUR =
The Travel Section, this I find is one of the better sections, they usually start off with focusing on a certain travel destination(s) listing where, what, how and why? The next few pages are devouted to consumer issues such as readers rants ...

Advantages: Quality, easy to read, very informative Disadvantages: none
The Sunday Times must be the best newspaper on the market. Although the price has recently risen to £1.20 it is still cheaper than some trashy magazines that contain nothing.
Where do I start? The new section is informative, articulate and fairly unbiased covering all oif the issues in the news to a full degree. the comment is also good, particularly the witty Jeremy Clarkson.
Sport next, first class for football reports, great for all other sports ... ...Radio listings for the week.
And then - once you've read it all it is Sunday again and you buy a new one.
To be honest I don't have time to read it all, but I know what I like and would advise anyone to try it out on Sunday. ...

...of the high tides in various areas around the country as well in there as well.
The Sundaytimes also reviews books, films, tv, theatre and music.
You also get a listing magazine called the Culture so I don't have to go and buy a seperate listings mag, its all there in the one Sunday paper.
Plus a travel section lots of different places review and good pictures.
I remember one of the tvadvertisments for the SundayTimes and this showed a family seperating the newpaper out between them before settling down to a good comfortable read, this is what happens in our house.
As this paper has so much in it I find myself refering back to it during the week, or I might skim an articule on Sunday and put it on one side to read later in the week. At the moment I am reading the SundayTimes magazine articule on Columbus which is very...
