Me and SunnyD haven't actually known each other for a long time, it's only the year 2007 I got introduced to the SunnyD Florida original. How? Well It was one of those random days and I was out and about and started feeling thirst. To my luck I only had 50p on me. Therefore, decided to pop into a shop nearby. With my budget of 50p I had no greater choice of drinks to buy, the fanta fruit twist I normally buy was double the money I had, so therefore couldn't actually negotiate with the shopkeeper. I looked thoroughly in the drink freezer until my eyes got attracted to this little orange bottle that said SunnyD on it. I had never heard of the drink to be honest or seen them before. So I therefore decided to buy it as it fit my little 50p budget as the drink cost 45p. The bottle was so little that I had a moment of hesitation before I bought it, as I was really thirsty. After a moment of haggling with my mind I had no choice but to buy the drink as I was rather curious on the other side, wondering how the drink tasted. To tell you the truth I am not the type of person who likes to live in curiosity, it does stress me out. Therefore, I would rather sort it out when I have the chance, and at that moment in time it was my chance of getting rid the of the SunnyD first time experience curiosity.
Yes of course I went to the pay point to pay for my little SunnyD, that made me look rather pathetic in peoples eyes. The frown on my face was rather making it worse, as I was really craving for the drink, I just couldn't wait to gulp on the drink. Of course after paying and getting back my precious 5p change, which I carefully put in me pocket for next time I was going to need it. I kind of rushed out side trying to open the drink at the same time, I was not really concentrating on opening the drink as I was looking were I was going rather than the drink. When I got outside the drink was still not open, that's when I looked at it to see exactly how you open it. To my luck, it looked rather straight forward, all I had to do was pull off the strip under the drinking cap, which was so easy to pull off. The strip was rather soft to the touch. Woops, what had I done, I had actually opened the wrong way. What I was actually supposed to do was twist the colourless cap off and then pull up the drink's nozzle, just like how you do it on those sports drink bottles that are around nowadays. The way I open it the first time was for taking off the whole lid so that it would take less time to pour into a cup possibly or for me to gulp on the drink quicker than I can do via the little nozzle which was rather small and had a little hole that hardly had space for the drink to come out.
The time had come, the time to finally drink the drink I had never drank before, who knew what was to come. Did I check the ingredients to see if was allergic to any of them? No, I did not. Was I in agreement of how this company manufacture their drinks? No, at that moment in time all of that did not matter, all that mattered was my thirst. I feel my mouth getting dry already, trust me people, I was very desperate for the drink. Finally I lift my hand with the SunnyD Florida Original with the whole lid off as I did not see the point of me drinking via the little nozzle that looked like it was rather chocking. Off the drink goes, splashing in my mouth, flowing over every part in my mouth. My eyes went wide open, I just could not believe it. The drink had an emotional taste that made me feel like I was in victory. I felt like the whole world was starring at me (well there were these other two boys starring at me from a corner, could see them from the corner of me eye). The drink tasted so refreshing, it was not a sweet taste I tell you, it was an invigorating taste, it tasted so unique, definitely something I had never drank before I tell you. I really liked the taste, I could smell the fresh oranges and I know that I could smell something else rather than the oranges, I really was familiar with the other smell of the secret ingredient but was not in the moment of thinking about it seriously.
I swear down it was only about 30 seconds and the drink was all gone, funny enough so had my thirst, so I wasn't disappointed at all though I knew that I had found my new friend in the world of refreshments. It was not time for me to investigate exactly what I had consumed. All I knew was that the drink is called SunnyD Florida original, it smells of orange and another smell I'm quiet familiar with but couldn't really name it, it tastes wonderful and it's orange in colour. Funny enough, I realised that the drink was only 200ml, which explains why the bottle is very small. The 200ml bottle is the smallest one shown on the dooyoo picture above, on the left hand corner. I always thought a 300ml drink was always the best for me, in terms of getting rid of my thirst, but this lovely SunnyD drink proved me all wrong. The other smell and taste I couldn't figure out was lime. I wasn't exactly surprised because I knew it was that but just couldn't think of the name. I was surprised in finding out that it also has grape fruit and Mandarin though orange makes up the huge proportion of the drink,.
This drink was small for a fact, it's actually aiming at the kids, you don't need anyone to tell you that as you can tell by the design of the bottle. I could easily tell as I've done media studies and marketing etc so could tell the targeted market. The 200ml bottle is small in a way that it can fit in a child's lunch box, the cap was small for the fact that they don't want the children to choke from the drink, in case they drink a lot in one go. The 200ml bottle is slim to the look and touch, to help the kids to hold it it properly in their hands, which is rather a good idea. The drink is actually healthy, when I noted this, it put a smile on me face as I knew that, it was me being saved a trip to the gym. The 200ml bottle only has a shocking 67 calories, which is less than I've seen in other soft drinks. The SunnyD 200ml drink only has 0.2g of protein, 0.2g of fat, 14.9g of carbohydrates, o.1g of fibre and only 0.06g of sodium. Seeing the fibre in there really calmed me down, as the fibre helps to break down the fats in your body. This drink is rich in Vitamin A and C for the reason that it does have quiet a lot of fruits in it. The drink has very little sugar, suggesting that if you are on a diet, don't hesitate to gulp on the drink next time you get the chance to buy it.
When I got home I was wondering why I never heard of the company, of course there was only one logical answer to that. It's because they company does not advertise their products as much as other drink companies like coca-cola or Pepsi. I actually found out that the company started in 1964 in America and launched in the U.K during the late 90's. It has a long history of changed ownership and it used to be called Sunny Delighted which now changed to SunnyD of course. The company, however only make drink products and most of their drink have almost similar names. Next time I went for my main grocer in Sainsbury's I could not find the drink. I was rather disappointed really, as you would expect Sainsbury's to sell them. However, I could not 100% blame them as I wasn't in a huge Sainsbury's but those medium Sainsbury shops you would find locally near to you. When I went to Tesco, I did find the drink, but it was one of the huge bottle I saw. From then that's when I knew the drink came in different sizes 200ml, 500ml and 1.5 litre bottles. The 200ml and 500ml bottle are not recommended for children under the age 3years for safety reasons. Moreover, the SunnyD Florida Original also have other flavours such as orange and pine apple, SunnyD California etc.
I would definitely recommend this drink for those whom want something healthy for their kids lunch box or even your lunchbox. The drink tastes delightful, so you definitely can't go wrong with it. I was glad that I got my moment of drinking the SunnyD for the first time. After that day, I have always bought the 200ml SunnyD at least once a week (mainly when I get the chance). This drink can be bought from major shops e.g. Tesco and possibly your local shop as I bought my first one in a local shop. I'd say 'go ahead, you know you want to' try it out. !! for more info have a click round their site www.sunny-d.co.uk
Advantages: tastes good, refreshing Disadvantages: bottle isn't easy to hold
...fancy and there it was Sunny Delight in all its orange glory. I picked it up and ran to the checkout.
Created in Florida in 1964 it was bought by P&G who carried out test marketing on Sunny Delight. In April '98 it was launched in the UK and the light version was launched in 2000. So, I remember the days when the adverts graced our screens the children running about playing then the mother giving them all Sunny Delight. It was cheesy but never really ... ...is no longer officially Sunny Delight but now it has been shortened to Sunny D which I don't really like that much but to be honest I didn't really care because I don't pay attention to these kind of things.
Well I like how there are so many flavours by Sunny D. There is Summer Fruits, California, Caribbean and of course Florida style. After trying all of the flavours I still love the Florida style. It's the first one I ever tried and I loved it ...

Sunny Delight Florida Style
I bought this when I had tonsillitis. I chose the one with the no added sugar although I do prefer the one with the sugar but since I was sick. I decided to try and be health.
Sunny Delight was invented in 1964 by Doric Foods. Sunny Delight sometimes called Sunny D started to expand in California and they built two more plants to cope with the demand. Doric Foods were taken over by Sundor Brands in 1983 and in the March ... ...Gamble, who still own Sunny Delight and many other brands that we use today. P&G expanded Sunny Delight even more by adding different flavours and making the bottles in different sizes.
Sunny D has a variety of different flavours and different sizes.
The two most common flavours are Florida Style, which has a Tangy flavour with a combination of orange and Lime
California Style, which is a soft and smooth orange, lime, mandarin and grapefruit drink.
