I bought this when I had tonsillitis. I chose the one with the no added sugar although I do prefer the one with the sugar but since I was sick. I decided to try and be health.
Sunny Delight was invented in 1964 by Doric Foods. Sunny Delight sometimes called Sunny D started to expand in California and they built two more plants to cope with the demand. Doric Foods were taken over by Sundor Brands in 1983 and in the March of 1989, Sundor Brands were taken over by Proctor and Gamble, who still own Sunny Delight and many other brands that we use today. P&G expanded Sunny Delight even more by adding different flavours and making the bottles in different sizes.
Sunny D has a variety of different flavours and different sizes. The two most common flavours are Florida Style, which has a Tangy flavour with a combination of orange and Lime California Style, which is a soft and smooth orange, lime, mandarin and grapefruit drink. Both of these have a no added sugar (NAS) juice as well. Florida Style and California Style can be find in any supermarket like Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Somerfield, Iceland etc and most corner shops. There's other flavours but they don't seem to be as widely available as the other two. Caribbean Style, which is a Tropical blend of Orange, Apple, Passionfruit and Pear. Also the Caribbean with no added sugar. Summer Fruits with no added sugar, which has a fresh and fruity blend of flavours with a twist of citrus
All of these are available in 1.5 litre, 500ml and 8x200ml pack sizes. (see Picture) The 1.5 litre bottles cost from £1-1.30 500ml bottles cost 65p-90p 8x200ml bottles that are perfect for lunchboxes cost £2-2.30
I chose1.5 litre Sunny Delight Florida Style with no added sugar. It cost me £1.15 from Somerfield.
It comes in a see through plastic bottle so you can see the colour of the juice and a plastic orange top that screws slightly and then pops off. On the label, it has the Sunny D logo and in green box Florida Style and under that NO ADDED SUGAR.
On the side It tells you the nutritional value Per 100ml Energy 42 kJ/ 10 kcal Protein < 0.01g Carbohydrates 1.4g Which of is sugar 1.3g Fat 0.2g Which saturates <0.1g Fibre <0.1g Sodium 0.03g
Then they list the ingredients and the best before date and that you should consume it within 5 days of opening.
The ingredient in Sunny Delight, which causes the most concern, is beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is used in Sunny D for two reasons. Firstly, it's used to give the drink more colour and secondly to boost the Vitamin A content of the drink. An overdose on Beta-Carotene can cause yellowing of the skin and stomach upset. Luckily, the side effects only last a couple of weeks so I'd stick to the recommend daily intake of this, which is about 300ml. Otherwise, you're overdosing on Vitamin C.
I open the bottle and have a smell. It smells like oranges with a hint of something else. I'm guessing that's the lime. I pour it into a small glass. It looks like plain orange but it's been classified as a soft drink so I'm recommend that you don't drink it like orange juice. There are no bits in it. I hate bits in my orange juice so I'd hate it in this as well. I take a sip and let it roll over my tongue. It tastes refreshing and delicious. Just like orange juice with a bite. Chilled it tastes slightly different. It brings out of the taste of the lime. It's perfect for soothing the throat and lovely on a hot summer's day especially if you pop some ice cubes in it. The sugared version of Florida Style taste the same but you can taste the sugar a lot more and I'd say that was more a soft drink than the one without the added sugar. Sunny D Florida Style is also great to use in cocktails, as it's already blend of orange and lime. This might sound strange but I like drinking this with Cola as it really puts a twist on it. Also, if I have still some Sunny D left and the 5 days is nearly up, just turn them into ice lollies. Kids love 'em and so do grown-ups.

Overall Comment I love Sunny Delight but I only buy it once and awhile. For example when I'm sick. It makes it more special and not like it's an every day orange juice. Kids love this especially the one with the sugar so watch out that they don't have too much and turn yellow. All in all, it's wonderful, cheap and I'm defintely going to try the Caribbean one next time. Happy Drinking!

I used to drink the light version of this a lot but haven't had it in years - like the idea of turning it into ice lollies. Jane x

Don't agree with you on this one and I think the review misses the key point, the full list of ingredients. There is a load of chemical rubbish in this drink - the reason drinking too much of it will turn you orange is because its natural colour is sludgy grey. This drink poses as orange juice, and also as healthy when in reality it is neither. Yuk!
