I remember I few years’ back, when I was a likle boy, pleading with my dad to get me Mario Kart. Not known to me it wasn’t out yet! But he performed; don’t ask me how he did it. But he got me the American Mario Kart and a converter. Yippee!
I got down to it straight away. What a game!
The basic concept is as most racing games; Win the races to gain point, the driver with the most points after 5 GP's wins. Simple. The game has 3 worlds each with 5 grand prix in. For every time you win you get 9 points, second 6 points and so on. The game also has 2(ish) difficultly levels. 50cc, which is supposed to be easy. And 100cc that is supposed to be harder. But after you have completed all 3 worlds and both difficulty setting. A fourth world and an extra difficulty setting will become available.
The graphics for this game are brilliant. Remembering this is for a Super Nintendo. They were by far the best for any racing game out at that time. As the game is a Mario, the game is all bright and cheerful.
The multi-player for this game is great. You can either have a race or series of races. Just as most Racing games have. Or you can have a battle mode (by personal favorite!) There great fun. The basic concept is that you play inside a maze (sort off) and you drive around trying to run over the question mark boxes on the floor. When you successfully run over one, and then get a weapon from a selection. The weapons are accessible through all the races and grand prix, but they have more of a meaning in the battle mode. Weapons range from the speed increasing mushrooms, to shells that follow your opponent.
This game is great if you still have a SNES, and do not own this game I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

i used to love this game and i have to admit that i am a total girlie when it comes to games consoles - i can never get past the first few levels of anything! - but all racing games are totally beyond me with the exceptions of this, f-zero and crash team racing on the playstation - great op. Bry
Mario Kart 64was one of the finest games released for the Nintendo 64 platform so it's no ... more
surprise that the brilliant racing game would make it onto Nintendo's powerful new handheld Game Boy Advance. And rest assured the game clearly takes full advantage of the graphic power and speed of the GBA. But this version owes more to the seminalSuper Mario Karton the SNES in that it doesn't use the 3D environments of the N64 version.Still, Nintendo's expertise at sucking players into the game world is strongly evident, andMario Kart Advanceoffers enough challenges to keep players, both young and old, entertained. Placing a familiar Nintendo personality, such as Mario, Luigi and even the mushroom man behind the wheel of a sputtering go-kart powered by a 50, 100, or 150-cc engine, the game lets players race computerised opponents or up to four other players (via a cable) on a variety of well-designed tracks. Multiplayer is the key toMario Kart, and though you'll need four cartridges for the full multiplayer experience there are some limited options for four-way play from a single cartridge.Because karts lack the power and speed of games (and let's face it you aren't in it for theGran Turismo 3adrenalin-pumped experience), drivers must focus on collecting power-ups and non-lethal weapons, such as the snowball and minimiser, rather than negotiating hairpin turns on two wheels. Grabbing and using on-track items is the heart of the game's fun: a strategically placed banana peel sends the unlucky victim into a spin, nailing an opponent with a turtle shell launches their vehicle skyward, and a rocket provides a quick boost to near-breakneck speeds.--Kristen Bowditch
