The Grand Final of Tetley's Super League IX between Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos was ... more
the culmination of the most successful season of rugby league since the sport switched from winter to summer. With crowds breaking all previous records and the action on the pitch more competitive than ever, the rugby league's future is more secure than it's been for decades. The Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 16 2004 was played in front of a sell out attendance of 65,537, with tickets being sold on eBay at many times face value in the week leading up to the game. Leeds started favourites having won the League Leaders Trophy in September, finishing 9 points ahead of Bradford in the regular season. The Rhinos had also beaten their near neighbours 3 times in the regular season. But in week two of the play offs, Bradford had showed why they were the Champions, by beating Leeds at Headingley to be the first side to reach the end of season finale. Leeds bounced back the next week by hammering Wigan, to secure a rematch and the first ever all Yorkshire final in a Super League Grand Final. Which city would be able to claim the title The Cock of the North.

promised to be a titanic struggle between the two Rugby League giants. They met at The Theatre of Dreams on the 15th October 2005 to claim the title of Champions of engage Super League X. It was the first final of the Super League era not to involve the side that finished top of the table at end of the regular season. Leeds reached Old Trafford by beating St Helens in the qualifying semi-final. Bradford got there the hard way, with wins over London Broncos, Hull FC and St Helens. The Bulls were hoping to be the first side that had finished outside the top two to win Super League. So which side started as favourites? Leeds may have been the holders, defending the title they won against the Bulls in 2004, but the Bulls were not short of experience. This was their fifth successive appearance at the end of season finale at Old Trafford. Ahead of the eagerly awaited final, even the bookmakers couldn't separate the two sides.
Advantages: Good Graphics, Training option is very good, as is the multiplayer Disadvantages: Game play isnt as good as it could have been. Some computer teams are far too hard to play.
When it came to Rugby games on the Playstation, the only one worth mentioning previously was Jonah Lomu Rugby. That is of course until 2001 when those clever guys at EA sports decided it was time for them to get in on the action. As I?m sure many of you are aware I am a big Rugby fan so when I saw this in Game for just £10 on the Ps2 I knew that it was one of those games I just had to buy.
Now EA are renowned for their ability to make good sports games such as the likes of the Fifa series, Tiger Woods golf series and a recent addition the Cricket series. They really are one of the main players where the sports genre is concerned. Of course the first thing to clear up is that this is very much a game focusing on the Union side of Rugby, as far as I?m aware there have been no games to date, which feature RugbyLeague.

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Rugby (PS2)
Advantages: Great gameplay, good graphics for PS2 standards, excellent audio and commentary Disadvantages: Scrums and rucks are difficult to get used to
Rugby 08 is a great game for the PS2 and as a PS2 presentation is quite impressive with its graphics.
I have previously played rugby games on the PS2 and been fairly unimpressed with the titles out there and that includes EA's previous offerings but thankfully EA appeared to have listened to the gamers and their demands based on the previews I had read and so took a chance on picking this one up in my local game store.
Upon the loading of the game I found it to have various different game modes (the one I use most being 6 nations) so loaded a quick game playing at Murrayfield...the first thing I noticed was that I could recognise the stadium as being Murrayfield and as the team linups were shown the commentary started and I was really impressed with the fact that EA had once again gone for knowledgeable commentators to lead you ...
Advantages: Less noise, less heat, better graphics, online capabilities Disadvantages: Quite an old console. Better things out now.
The Playstation 2 Slimline (SL) is a newer design of the Playstation. Although the Slimline is smaller it still has the same capabilities as the old PS2.
The PS2 SLplays every single PS2 game that you could think of and still has the ability to play PS1 games aswell.
It is much smaller than the old PS2 which means it is easier to place in any room in the house without taking up a ridiculous amount of room. As well as being smaller it is more power efficient and gives off less heat which means it can be placed in a confined space without fear of it overheating.
Just like the original PS2 the SL can be placed either horizontally or vertically and comes with a vertical stand. The stand is detachable so that if you simply want to sit it in between a wall and a cupboard then you can do so.
The PS2 SL still has the same online ...
