✶✶MY EXPERIENCE✶✶
Now, hairdressers and I do not mix. I last had my hair cut in 1990, other than when my other half cut off a bit with the kitchen scissors after I got paint in my hair, but that's another story! Consequently my hair was hip length, uncared for and rather messy! It was kept clean, obviously, but most of the time I just wore it tied back. On the Friday before Christmas 2008, I was walking past the Supercuts branch in the Weston Favell Shopping Centre, Northamptonshire, when a weird sensation came over me and before I had time to stop and consider, I walked in and asked if I could get a haircut. I was booked in and as the salon was fairly quiet, I was escorted to a stylist straightaway.
She listened carefully as I explained how long it was since I had had a haircut and that I come into the salon on impulse. She was very sweet and although slightly taken aback at the length of my hair when untied, she was very complimentary on the condition of my locks! Whether that was sales pitch or not, I don't know, but she did seem genuinely surprised that I had used no products apart from shampoo and conditioner for years and don't even use a hairdryer.
What truly impressed me was her attitude, polite and pleasant, but overall, caring. She asked me several times if I was sure I wanted to cut my hair and suggested styles that might suit, I had originally pointed to a photograph on the wall of a woman with a bob type style and said words to the effect of 'like that, please'. The stylist explained that the style I indicated probably wouldn't work well with the texture and natural waves of my hair and steered me towards a longer, choppier style which would suit my face shape and hair type.
With my agreement, the work began, first a shampoo, which in itself was a bit of an ordeal as my hair was too long for the basin! Shampooing done , the real business started...cutting! The amount of hair that was cut off was startling, the floor around me was a veritable sea of hair, at one point there was so much flying around that the salon junior was called over to sweep up mid cut! The junior than came back to watch the proceedings and told me that she's never seen someone with very long hair having it cut! The end style is very pleasing, shoulder length, layers cut into the back and sides and a feathery fringe. I am really delighted with my hair-do and the ease with which I can manage it at home, wash it, brush it and go! It was £30 well spent and considering that I was in the salon for well over an hour, not expensive.
I can see by reading other reviews on Ciao that some customers haven't been as happy as I am with Supercuts, of course everyone's experience will differ, but for my money, all £30 of it, I was well pleased. The salon was bright, clean and tidy, the staff pleasant and competent and the end result, my hair cut, everything I could have wanted. I just wish that I could remember the stylist's name, she was so good that I would have liked to commend her publically!
✶✶THE COMPANY✶✶
The company, Supercuts, is part of the Regis group. Salons are located throughout the UK mainly in shopping centres. Salons offer a full range of services, cutting, colouring, styling, perms, blow drying and the sales of hair care products. I was asked if I wished to buy any of the products that the stylist had used, but this was done in a very businesslike fashion with absolutely no sales pressure. Note:- I understand that if a colouring procedure is required, the salon reserve the right to insist upon a skin test before undertaking the treatment, very sensible in my view!
The branch I used can be contacted at:- Supercuts Unit 11e, Weston Favell Centre, Northampton, Northamptonshire NN3 8JZ Tel: 01604 408617
Note:- I have been unable to trace a website for the group.
✶✶My thoughts and conclusion✶✶
Supercuts was, for me, a very good salon. I cannot praise the service I received highly enough. In comparison to other salon's prices, I felt the cost was fair and the end result worth every penny. If you need a haircut in a hurry, why not give Supercuts a try?
Advantages: No need to make an appointment Disadvantages: Unskilled, unstrained staff who look to process you as fast as possible
...the UK and dropped into Supercuts in Liverpool Street for my first haircut since moving to London. I'm a guy with medium length hair and like my hair to be shaggy with a lot of texture. When I went in I explained to the Brazilian guy who was doing my hair that I was growing it out and just wanted some texture cut into it so it didn't look overgrown but still wanted it to look shaggy. He proceeded to cut my fringe, back and sides straight across and ... ...would not recommend going to Supercuts as they obviously don't care about making sure their employees are actually able to do even the simplest of haircuts. You may be lucky and get someone competent but the risk of getting someone who has no idea what they are doing and shouldn't even be working in a salon is just too great. ...

...colour my hair. I telephoned Supercuts in Lakeside and was told they would be open late on Thursday evening until 10pm (perfect!) and was told that no appontment was necessary as they do not have a booking system, you turn up & they will let you know if they can fit you in. I checked on the phone they used Wella products as I had never been to Supercuts before.
I cancelled the appointment I had with the local salon and decided to wait until Thursday, ... ...making an appointment.
If Supercuts are so worried about anything going wrong when they colour hair maybe they should get customers to sign a disclaimer? Also, after driving all the way there they said that they did not have enough time to cut my hair and I would have needed to be at the salon by 7pm (there was a queue of one person and three staff working). I had been misinformed by the staff member on the telephone.
Before going, I had thought ...

Quick review of Supercuts
Recently I had my hair cut at the Vernon Hills, IL SuperCuts location for the first time. Although conversation with Angie, the stylist, was minimal because she seemed to discourage my attempts at conversation, she did a fine job on my hair for about half of what I had paid on my previous visit to a fancier salon for the same services (shampoo, cut, and style). . I am pleased with the result, plan to return to her in a few weeks, and recommend going to her. ...

matter because I'd never been to the salon before. Instead he told me I'd be having it with Jordan and that it had all been sorted.
~First impressions~
As I walked into the building the place was spotlessly clean. No hair on the floor or towels lying about which is always a good sign. I was greeted by a man in a clean suit. He was well spoken and well groomed and offered me a drink whilst I waited for the stylist to turn up. He then offered me a seat.
~The Stylist~
Jordan turned up and was rearing to go with so much enthusiasm. In fact he started the consultation dead on the time of my scheduled appointment. I was well impressed.

.hairloss-hair.co.uk (sells a vast range of Redken products, though not Soft Ends).
I also tried to find out the names of salons which sell Redken products. Unfortunately this was another tricky task and the only one I managed was the one I happened to wander past - Supercuts. There are salons throughout the UK and you'll find a store locator on the website. If I manage to find any other salons stocking this I'll update my review to include them.

I paid £10.50 for mine, and this is the price Soft Ends is retailing at on hqhair.com. However, with once-weekly usage I fully expect this to last to me at least three months if not more and I was quite happy to pay this for a product that I know works. ...
Advantages: they may well give you advice if you ask for it... Disadvantages: price - a gamble.... somewhat pretentious staff....
said "well when you get home and use your straighteners it will bounce up and look less long"?. So in other words he couldn't be bothered! And also, since when have straighteners made your hair look LESS long?
So I had to go to the reception and pay the somewhat extortionate fee, only to be greeted by my boyfriend saying "didn't you get it cut in the end?" Agh?.
*THE UGLY*?
Ok, so the most recent visit I can tell you about in more depth. This review is already long and you've probably read a few others that say a similar thing so I will point out the advantages (of Toni and Guy in general) in particular:
1. Very smart, stylish salon and gives you a good feeling? especially as the Woking one is situated opposite Supercuts; which I contemplated entering until I saw that there were only 2 styling chairs and that the floor ...
