WIPE IT ALL OFF IN ONE SWOOP
Advantages Much cheaper than branded wipes, effective
Disadvantages Smell is a bit off-putting, skin tingled a little
Here we go - no food or alcohol this time! Instead it's time to write about my lastest bargain beauty find being a bit pushed for cash.
My favourite outlet for beauty and health products is Superdrug purely for their easy to navigate store (my local one anyway), good competitve prices - often much cheaper than boots and the like, and their good quality range of own brand products. With all that in mind I went in there the other week for a few bits and pieces and while wandering round the store was reminded that I needed some facial cleanser/make-up remover as I found myself in the skincare aisles. I've always preferred the 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 facial wipes for this purpose as they are not so messy and quick and easy to use. Plus, for me, they work out as a good budget option as I am not one of the best for remembering to remove my make-up - ahem! I also find these great for my Rock Festival camping experiences and as Reading Festival approaches in the near distance I'm going to need some!
In the past I have used (and reviewed!) both the Johnsons PH and Simple brands multi purpose facial wipes and I have no complaints with either of them so I had in mind to buy them again BUT then I saw these! Superdrug's own brand facial wipes sat there calling to me "we're a lot cheaper, we're just as good!" I investigated the various brands and packs on the shelf and the price difference was amazing! Most of the known brands, such as those I've just mentioned, averaged at around £3.99 - £4.99 for a pack of about 25 facial wipes. Superdrug were tempting me with a pack of 40 wipes for the bargain price of £2.29 - how could I refuse?!Admittedly the packaging was basic and simple so not the most appealing looking option but then I wasn't going to be using the packaging! There were two varieties available - normal/Camomile in a pale yellow plastic pack or fragrance free/Sensitive in a mid blue plastic pack. I opted for the fragrance free as my skin can be a bit unpredictable with perfumed products and is quite dry.
So I paid my £2.29 and took them home to test out that evening by actually removing my make-up before going to bed! These "all in one" wipes serve the purpose of cleanser, eye make-up remover, toner and moisturiser in one swoop which is great for the lazy ones among us! These wipes are also PH balanced to retain the skins' moisture balance which is especially good for those of us with dry skin. The pack is resealable so the wipes should remain moist, fresh and clean down to the last one.So - the verdict! Although fragrance free these had quite a strong chemical/clinical smell but it wasn't unpleasant. They were nice and moist and cleaned effectively and felt refreshing on my face. To remove all traces of black eye liner and mascara took a little extra work but they did actually remove it all eventually - they had a bit of a struggle on the colourhold lipstick though!
Afterwards my skin felt clean and soft with a slight passing tingle but no adverse reaction. They were certainly as good as, if not better than, previous brands I've tried but for almost half the price for a few more wipes - a true bargain! So for those of us on a tight budget that want a no nonsense, no frills product that does the job these certainly lived up to expectations.
