Children's development

Advantages: Excellent Information
Disadvantages: No Explanations

the first section most frequently as this is the main section and is also the most relevant to my study. *Section 1 - Illustrated Charts of Children's developmental progress* This section is divided into four key areas of developmental progress. It is in chronological order from birth to five years. The four area's are: *Posture and Large Movement *Vision and Fine Movements *Hearing and Speech *Social Behaviour and Play The text is very readable and the wording is fairly simple. This book does not attempt to explain why anything occurs at a certain age, which I think is good as there is no bias or opinion. But some people might view this as a disadvantage (depending on why you want the book) The newborn baby section has a couple of other areas, such as 'states of sleep and wakefulness' and 'social interaction and the formation ...

How To Survive Losing Your Spouse

Advantages: Deals with the practicalities and emotional issues bereavement brings in bite size chapters
Disadvantages: Whilst this is an excellent self help book, it is probably best for those who are under 50 or so

. Telling your child their father (or mother) has died is truly horrific but honesty has to be the best policy. Grief of course affects different people in different ways. The joy of this book is that it isn't just about Kate Boydell's own experiences - she has included contributions from people she has encountered from her website and this also means you don't just get the widow's view, but that of the widower too. Through reading this book I came to view my own grief as a madness and this helped me cope with some of the strong emotions I had to contend with, and still have to contend with. I have also come to realise that you don't "get over" your grief with time - it's more about adapting to the new life you have to live without your spouse, and accepting and coming to terms with the loss. Part Two of the book is entitled "Out Into ...

Get your kicks from errr... Root 6

Advantages: Powerful, Portable, Looks like a space-gun
Disadvantages: Price,. Noise

comes with, it's easy to keep the battery fully-charged, but if you do manage to run the battery down completely, it will take a rather lengthy 90 minutes (or more) to return to full charge. The reason the battery only lasts this long is the ludicrously powerful motor that generates so much suction. And noise. Honestly, this is - without a doubt - the noisiest handheld vacuum I've ever tried. And I've tried at least 2 others. Don't use it while you're on the phone, you will nearly deafen the person on the other end of the line. Just ask my brother. If he can hear you. You'd be best off talking into his left ear. Ergonomically, this is typical Dyson. All the bits you need to disassemble and clean are easily removable and go back together with the minimum of fuss. Also typically Dyson, any of the filters that you do need to clean will ...
