Surcare sensitive washing up liquid is another gem of a find I want to share with you. As many of you know I suffer quite badly with very sensitive skin and get irritable eczema from time to time. Surcare sensitive washing up liquid is another gem of a find I want to share with you. As many of you know I suffer quite badly with very sensitive skin and get irritable eczema from time to time. I am always very careful what products I use and had been quite happy with original Fairy washing up liquid. However after a recent promotion at Sainsburys I tried Fairy’s latest love child, Fairy Naturals, thinking (stupidly) that something natural couldn’t possibly cause any aggravation. I was very wrong though and got angry blotches on my skin.
Anyone that suffers outbreaks of angry skin knows how hard it can be to deal with, and I found that even my old preferred original Fairy was causing the same irritation. I decided to try Surcare Sensitive washing up liquid as I have also used their hand wash and been very happy with that product.
So Who Makes Surcare? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ The Surcare range is made by a company called Robert McBride Ltd, not a familiar name to me but they also make Brio, Clean ‘n’ fresh and Superguard. They do not test on animals, creating products that are dermatologically tested and dermatologist approved.
How Would I Recognise It? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* The washing up liquid is in a bright white squeezy plastic bottle. This is characteristic of all the Surcare products. I presume they are white to bring extra emphasis to their purity when compared to other perfumed and coloured products. The Surcare logo is a picture of a mother cuddling a baby, displayed across the bottle. They want to have a family feel to their products, giving you the reassurance that they are sensitive to all of the family. It only comes in the one size of 500ml and is in a contoured bottle. The bottle has a waist to it so you can hold it easier, which is important when you have soapy, slippery hands. It has a fairly big flip top to it which is easily opened and closed. You can also easily unscrew the bottle. This is very useful if you recycle your bottles as you need to remove the lid and this can often be near impossible.
What does The Liquid Look And Smell Like? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Surcare do not use any perfumes or dyes in their products. This is because it is often these added ingredients which can irritate sensitive skin. The washing up liquid is very similar in colour to bleach. It is almost clear but looks like a very pale dirty brown. It hasn’t got much of a smell to it but the closest thing I can think that it smells of is olive oil. Not particularly pleasant but far from horrid.
How Do You Use It? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* It is used in the same way as any good quality washing up liquid. You can use it diluted in your washing bowl. Just one short squeeze and then just add water. Or you can use directly on your sponge or dishes. I always add it to my washing up bowl when I am running the water. It foams up fairly well producing lots of small bubbles completely covering the surface.
Does It Actually Clean Dishes? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ The washing up liquid bubbles up quite nicely in small swarms of bubbles and produces more foam as you clean. My skin has not been irritated and my dishes have been clean. You only need to use a little but the bubbles do go fairly quickly if you leave your dishes in the bowl to soak. The more action you make, the more the bubbles foam. I clean with a sponge and find that a few wipes gets any remaining food off the plates. I do not rinse the plates off before putting them to dry as there are not many bubbles. Saying this, I have never rinsed plates thoroughly after washing them unless they are still covered in bubbles. As we don’t drink much tea or coffee in our house we have a lot of glasses to wash every day and I hate it when glasses are left streaky after cleaning. I have not had this problem with the Surcare washing up liquid. They are not exactly sparkling but they are far from streaky. The washing up liquid has a fairly average soaking power to it, getting of the majority of marks easily with the real dried on food requiring a bit of elbow grease. The bubbles do fade quite quickly in still water. This has not been a problem as if I leave something to soak I change the water to wash it properly as the water will be filled with food bits. I have been very happy with the cleaning power of the washing up liquid.
Do They Sell Any Other Products? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* Surcare have a small range of products specially designed for sensitive skin:- hand wash, body lotion, laundry liquid / tablets and powder and fabric conditioner. I have previously used the fabric conditioner and hand wash. The fabric conditioner I did not buy again as I preferred the smell of Comfort Pure, which was also gentle on my skin. I have also used their hand wash and I would buy it again if only I saw it for sale somewhere.
Where Can I Buy Surcare Products? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ So, it is an excellent product and comes highly recommended by me so where is the catch! Well, it is not widely available. Some branches of Sainsburys, Asda’s, Superdrug and Waitrose may stock it. If you go to their website at www.surcare.co.uk they can give you more information on where you can buy it.
How Much Is It? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* I bought it from Sainsburys for about £1, which is very competitively priced. I have just spotted it on promotion as Superdrug though for 49p. A real life bargain! Well worth trying at that price.
I highly recommend this product for those with and without sensitive skin. I feel safer with a washing up liquid that is unperfumed and uncoloured. It cleans well, doesn’t leave streaks and doesn’t irritate your skin.
For more information you can call them on 0800 096 1641 Or visit www.surcare.co.uk Talkeczema.com may also be a useful site to visit if you suffer from similar skin irritation.
Advantages: An effective and gentle washing up liquid Disadvantages: None
I decided to try Surcare as I intensely disliked the stong fragrance used by other washing up liquids and the aftertaste the residue left in cups etc if they are not thoroughly rinsed. I had tried Ecover washing up liquid but that was a little more expensive than the usual brands. One day I happened to spot Surcare on the supermarket shelves and decided to give it a try. Mainly because it was very reasonably priced at 76p and much cheaper than the ... ...2 for a £1...
Surcare is specially made for those people who suffer from sensitive skins. It is unperfumed, dermatologist approved and contains no dyes. It comes in an atractive white 500ml bottle with a picture of a mother and young baby on the front. The liquid is clear and unperfumed. You only need a small amount to make the water frothy and bubbly. Just use in the usual way. The liquid thoroughly cleans washing up and does not leave any offensive ...

Surcare?
Surcare is a range of laundry, washing up and personal care products made by Robert McBride Ltd for sensitive skins. They are all dermatologically tested and dermatologist approved and not tested on animals. They do not contain perfume, dyes or any other unnecessary additives yet are extremely good at what they do, particularly the washing up liquid.
... ...the other products in the Surcare range it doesn't contain any added perfume so it doesn't smell of anything very much. It is a clear liquid (it doesn't contain any added colour either). It is good at producing bubbles so you don't need to use much at a time - however, after a few pots (a bowl full) the bubbles soon disappear. Overall it is pretty similar to any other washing up liquid. It cleans very well (even the cat's bowl comes up sparkling) ...

I have been using Surcare now for about 6 months after finding my hands had started to become very dry after doing any washing up and i don't particularly like rubber gloves.
My mother suffers from Eczema on her hands so i think this why i might have started to suffer from the dryness.
I noticed an improvement straight away from using Surcare and find it is just as good as any of the leading washing up brands out there, its unfragranced which i ... ...little of washing up liquid if used immediately after washing with my previous brand and you don't need to use a lot, it bubbles up well and cleans the dishes really well too.
Its also reasonably priced at approx 75p for 500ml.
I have noticed though if i have to do a lot of washing up in one go my hands can still feel dry but i think thats mainly me and not the liquid, i have no issues with it when doing a normal meals dishes or even a days worth. ...

Apparantly a lot of new mothers tend to develop allergies to certain products after the birth of a child, particularly on their hands, as they have to wash their hands a lot more often.
Well, I tried to find Shampos, Conditioners, WashingUpLiquid etc that did not have the presevatives in them, or at least something which doesn't irrate my skin as much, and at the moment cannot find any, So after a bath or washing my hands, my skin gets really red and sore, and often bleeds. As well as this, after washing my clothes, when I put them on they tend to irritate my skin (becuase of the washing powder).
