The news of the arrival of mark ramprakash came as a surprise to me, as I have alwyas been a follower of his career. Having assumed a position of authority following the retirement of Mike Gatting at Middlesex, one could have safely presumed that this was going to be another one-county man. however, his prolonged and tormented failures at the crease led him to lose his england place and so I think the move, as a consequence, is a good one for the sake of the man's career. Cricket must now wake up and introduce a proper transfer system.
