Being a hard up student, i'm always bargin hunting and when Sussex Stationers opened a branch in maidstone i was ecstatic! OK, so it sounds VERY sad, but it was not only interesting, but a life saver too. It opened right in the middle of the high street - oppostie what was Topshop - a perfect spot!
When I first saw it, i thought it was going to be another shop like poundland, wth really cheap and tacky things, that were really poor quality, but i was wrong! The front was filled with books, and not just any books, best sellers, releases and recent smash hits! They were up to date and the prices were unbelievable. £1 off, £5 off, and even £10 on some books. There were books that were just half the price of the r.r.p and wh smiths which was great! I'm not exactly a book worm, but i do like to read the odd book, and it's so nice to own your own hard back edition of your favourite book, rather than having to get that tatty old version out of the library again.
Also, studying two language at A level, i need those huge dictionaries. We were told by our teachers that we really shoud go to sussex stationers to buy them, they cost £9.99, whereas they're normally £25 - what a bargin!
The stationery is great too. Allsorts of everything. Basic biros and envelopes, groovy coloured pens, fun novelty stationery, professional art equipment, and the biggest range of greetings cards i have seen! And all at incredibly affordable prices. Why go to places like smiths, when you can get exactly the same for a fraction of the price?!?
