Fuel capacity is approximately 2.75 litre, which should be good for about 70 miles of communiting. Oil capacity is around 1 litre. One of my few gripes about the bike is surrounding the fuel capacity, which is very small. I commute approximately 30 miles per day into the city every day, so find myself having to fill the bike with fuel every other day. I used to own a Honda version of the bike which had double the fuel capacity!
I find it best to top the oil up at the same time as I fill with fuel. A 1 litre bottle of oil usually lasts me about 6-8 weeks - so it doesn't drink it!
The bikes performance and reliability is good, even having clocked it 2 and a half times, I still find the bike is capable of in excess of 40 mph (not bad for a moped!) and is still smooth at pulling away, accelerating and braking. It handles just as you expect a bike to handle - bearing in mind the small wheels.
The bike has just the basic features without the bells and whistles - economy is the key word here!
Maintenace is low as it is mostly plastic (which is wipe clean) and has very few moving parts. The only major thing that has gone wrong with the bike is the exhaust splitting about 6 months ago (but since this was the original exhaust, I suppose this is not too much to expect) - to replace it cost me £90 plus labour, which for what the exhaust is, is a lot of money.
I have had very few problems with the bike and overall am very happy with it. Having driven this type of bike for more than 15 years, I have to admit that it compares very favourably across the board. If they can just increase the size of the fuel tank it would be so much better.
Recommended for a first bike as very easy to drive and get used to.
Advantages: Extremely Economical to run Disadvantages: small fuel tank
I have owned my AE50 now for just over 7 years (1995 M reg) having bought it from new from a dealer. Overall I am very pleased with how economical the bike has been. Being a moped, insurance (£70 per year) and Tax (£15 per year) for this bike is very cheap. Fuel costs me about £3.50 per week for around 150 miles of city travelling.
The bike is the 'original' scooter styled (not modern curves), and has a single gear with a 2 stroke petrol engine. ... ...and mixing the oil in with the petrol every time you fill up (which is a blessing in itself)! Unlike the bigger bikes, there is no oil sump, so no messy filters to clean/replace.
Fuel capacity is, in comparison with other similar models, very low at approximately 2.75 litres. This should be good for about 70 miles of commuting. Oil capacity is around 1-1.25 litres - but to be honest, I top the oil up every time I fill up with fuel (which I forgot ...

Advantages: small, light, zippy, dirt cheap to run, even in a bike unfreindly city people smile and let you take out their daughter. Disadvantages: too easy to steal, 55km max speed at times, fools on Sydney roads. Comfort after 15 k's constant.
Being bike rider for almost twenty years I often wanted the ease of owning and using a scooter.
About 8 years ago a mate put me to task and asked me to look for a scooter that was really cheap to purchase. I found this particular scooter. Seven and a half years and 5500 km's later,I purchased the scooter from this mate who had spent the the first three tears living on it. Suffice to say, it sat idle for four years and when we filled up the tank, ... ...fired up. No dramas. I got it registered (total of about AU$130) and it hasn't stoped since. I ride it to work every day 12 km's round trip and anywhere that suits me, I love it. It will do 80k's for three litres not bad considering most of this motoring is flat out on Sydney roads, and you can get away with parking it anywhere. I mean, right up to shopfront doorways, underneath shop awnings; you can even get a smile whilst short-cutting along footpaths. ...
