    Disadvantages Disadvantages Small boot

In 2002 sadly a friend of mine was killed in a road accident and as a firefighter at the time my father had to deal with freeing the body from the vehicle, this got my father thinking and he decided to buy me a new car for my 21st with airbags as my old car did not have any. I was given the option that I could either get a V or Y reg peugeot or other small car or I could have a brand new 53 plate Suzuki Alto, my first car was a Suzuki Alto so knowing that they were decent cars I opted for the brand new car (who wouldn’t) Like I say the Alto was selling for the same as much older small cars and ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, reliable, good fuel economy, easy to park

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow acceleration, limited space inside the car

General Info The Suzuki Alto can be considered as a great car yet at the same time it is absolutely terrible. For starters, we'll look at the price. I purchased mine a few years ago from the Norfolk Motor Group at a very reasonable price of £4999 brand new. This is probably one of the cheapest cars available and if you've recently got your license and are just looking for a brand new car to get you from A to B, then this is certainly one for consideration. Due to its low value and low engine size, it also means that insuring yourself on the car is pretty cheap. Especially for a new driver as ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap on purchase, fuel and maintenance cost

Disadvantages Disadvantages Uncomfortable and lack of space

I have driven Alto for quite some time and some other cars too. When I say its good in bad times and bad in good times, I mean when you are in a bad financial situation, Alto wont be a great additional burden but when talking about having good time like comfort and fun in driving, Alto probably is not designed for that. Like any other car Alto has some good points and some bad points. Good points first. ECONOMICAL Here Alto will beat almost any other car and probably this is the factor for which most budget conscious people will opt for this car. The reasons that contribute towards Alto being ... more

Advantages Advantages Much better looking than the i10, Very cheap to run, Spacious interior, Reasonably well appointed

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of power in 3rd gear at low speed, A boot would be a nice addition

Suzuki`s new Alto has everything you need for A-B travel at a bargain price, the basic model comes with electric windows, power steering and ABS. Pretty standard for a modern car I know but let’s face it other manufactures will have these as more expensive options. Most reviews you will read compare the Alto to the Hyundai i10; I think this is fair so I will do the same. The i10 comes with a more complete basic package and nice little additions like rear discs brakes the Alto also is without a proper glove box for storage ot Sat Nav etc. The Alto also lacks the adjustable rear seats of other ... more

    Advantages Advantages Very cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Just about everything else

I drive a lot of cars, and I was lent an Alto as a courtesy car for a day while my own car was in the garage. It was a horrible experience. The spec on the Alto is almost non-existent, no electric anything, no power steering, not even a radio/cassette! Inside, the car looks only half-finished. And outside it's almost as bad, very boxy and offering a small choice of sickly non-metallic colours. (Check out the 'yellow', which looks like 3 day old school custard). The ride is the worst, though. First you have to contend with what is a huge gearstick for such a tiny car, and finding third is like ... more
