Advantages Reliable / Economical / Looks Good

Disadvantages Not The Quickest 125

I bought this bike while I was taking bike lessons.

The Riding School used them and I fell in love with it straight away - taking favour over the Honda CityFly 125 and Honda CG125.

No fairing at all on this bike - just you and the elements so good quality clothing is essential. The bike has proven to be very reliable and has yet to let me down. Average MPG is around 88mpg but this drops to 72mpg when I have my girlfriend on board. My girlfriend says the pillion seat is grand but her only gripe is that sometimes the road vibrates 'through her bum.'

Acceleration away from the lights is excellent but a determined driver in a half decent car will beat you if he wants. Average cruising speed is about 55-60 mph but I have had it just above 70mph when the weather conditions are right and going down a hill. Going up a steep hill in 4th gear will get you going at about 40-45mph.

Road handling is good, I can throw the bike into corners without scraping the footrests which used to happen with my old bike. Even over longer distances it is very comfortable - the seat offers lots of support and the riding position is good.

Not sure what the insurance group is but even as a learner riding on my driving licence it was only £200 for third party only. Now with one years no claims and a full [restricted] licence I was able to get TPFT for £181.

Servicing takes place every 1500 - 2000 miles. Its last service cost £80 but this was because the front brake pads needed replaced and a few other bits and bobs. The mechanic tells me the next service will be a cheaper one - only an oil and filter change.

I think the Suzuki is a good looker but one of the drawbacks is the wide mirrors - this can cause a problem when squeezing through traffic at the lights.

If you're thinking of getting a 125 to learn on as your first bike I would definately recommend it.
