I first came into the possesion of my 1997 Suzuki GSXF600 in 2001.. For a quite suprisinng £1195.00. I had just come off of a Yamaha XJ600 (literally) which I found a brilliant bike, which the press also underated, after looking through the local RAG the Suzuki caught my eye and I decided to try another one of the biking press' snub jobs.
BAD POINTS When I first got it back to my little bike museum in my back garden the first thing that I found was the poor finish on the engine casing, front forks and the rear swingarm... although this is a classic weathering problem I have heard that it is common with these. I took the time and re-did what suzuki should have done properly and it looks a treat. The front end is a bit heavy, its something that I have heard from every owner, you only really notice it in the corners and when you are trying to point the front tyre at the clouds, but as far as the handling goes, harder internals avalible from Ohlins (Top Dog, Orpington) and some heavier oil, never made that a problem again. Apart from the above mentioned there are the access to the engine, which is a bind, but one of those things... and the looks to most, which I like.... But then I like the BMW 1200ST
GOOD POINTS Everything is the short answer. This bike is brilliant, it tours (themrs won't get on anything else), it has been a courier tool, it puts a smile on my face, if you keep the revs high you will leave all but the experiencedchewing on your dust, it handles with the right adjustments, it has seen a track day (not in my hands), and it is easy cheap ownership with good fuel return and Insurance group 11... I ride an unbelievable amount of miles in one year, and most bikes are good to me, but end up scrapped sold or crashed, I just bought my second one. Get one, to commute or to keep the expensive bike clean, I don't care... If there isn't one in your garage you are missing out. JAp reliability, performance and engineered personality at its best.
