I am a 26 year old male with a Degree in Sports Education and a Diploma in Missiology (Social Science). My immediate plans are to pay off my student loan and then travel overseas to further my study.

I am 26 years old and I have never owned a car. I’m quite proud of that. Instead. I am a motorbike man through and through.
I bought the GSXR 600 second hand for only $1500 (NZ, about $700 US) – which was a very good price. Even though the bike was 10 years old when I got it and had done a few kilometers (or miles, for American readers) already, it still rates as the fastest bike I have ever owned (0-100 in under 5 seconds!).
Originally I got the bike because I was moving to Gisborne to study sport and I was looking for something a little bigger than what I currently had, in order to make return trips a little faster. Well, it certainly did that. It’s 16 valve double overhead cam added up to monster pick up (great for riding the Gisborne gorge), while it’s big 600cc engine meant sustained high cruising speeds (I often rode the Tauranga run at 180-200 kph).
After owning the bike for about a year I made a few modifications; some worked out well, some not so well:
I replaced the headlights with a massive car headlight with a halogen bulb. Basically this meant that when I switched my headlights on it was little different to daytime.
I did a complete chain, cog and sprocket resizing, stepping down the ratio’s in order to give me a bit more pick up (I’d moved into town by then so I could afford to sacrifice the top end). I had to fit a Regina chain though, as the all other chains I could get my hands on would not of withstood the torque. I’d highly recommend fitting a Regina chain (I had a lesser chain snap on me once, out in the middle of no-where; it took me two days to get back on track)
I changed over my ferring to Ducati ferring. I DON’T KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING. It completely unbalanced the bike, and at high speeds it was dangerously unstable. This was a very bad move.
I thoroughly recommend this bike, and I’m positively envious of all people who have one (I was forced to sell mine to repay my student overdraft).

Hi! This is a good review, but it would be handy if you could include a rough conversion to £ sterling when giving prices as the majority of readers are from the UK. Thanks :o)

I meant to comment, but I didn't, and now I just look like a fool.
