Practical, reliable, cheap... Ugly!
Advantages Great town car, cheap insurance group, cheap tax, cheap to run, no problems since owning it, nice little MPV.
Disadvantages Ugly, lack of leg room in back, not ideal if you are going on a long journey.

I consider myself as fortunate, being the owner of a Suzuki Wagon R+.
For my driving purposes it is ideal; I am a student and drive to my college daily, about 5 miles away from my house. I do not go very far very often, which is lucky -- driving long distances in the Wagon R is not very comfortable. This comes down almost entirely to the seating, which is stiff and board-like. For the driver and front passenger the room is fine, it's perhaps a little on the narrow side but no more than most cars of this size and price band. The Wagon R is very high, which results in odd (or shall we say 'quirky') looks, albeit much improved in the latest models (2001/Y reg+). For the tall drivers this is good news. This new model is basically a Vauxhall Agila with a Suzuki badge, while the older version is much more boxy and has been referred to rather harshly as 'the fridge on wheels'. The 'street cred' driving this car is low, but if you look past that you've got a lovely little car, it's cheap in every way you can think of, insurance, fuel consumption, tax, and servicing is never very much.
Another huge plus of this car is that it is ideal for those less agile drivers as the seating is high up it is very easy to get in and out. The height and large windscreen also make it a nice car to take in the surrounding views. The back seats go down to open a huge amount of space for such a small car, aswell. If you're not bothered about the cars looks, you'll struggle to find a better little car. Yes it is pretty ugly, but the practicalities that come with that more than make up for it. So, if you're looking for a reliable, cheap, town car that can fit a lot in the back (when the seats are down), then this is your car.
I strongly recommend the Wagon R+.

Welcome to Ciao. Informative review. The height does make it easier to get in and out. Maureen

Suzuki do really well in Asia sales. Not seen or used many in Uk myself though..it was easy to read this and quite interesting especially your pros and cons were quite useful. What insurance Group is this then? and the performance what do you think of the 1.3 L engine?economical too expect? fuel economy. Practicality and good looks sadly dont always go together with car manufacturers! Quite a helpful first review!-CH
