Maynard's Wine Gums - My favourite treat .
Advantages: Chewy, Sweet, Colourful, Addictive! Disadvantages: Packing could do with an update.
To me, there is something nostalgic about Maynard's Wine Gums. I remember grocery shopping trips with my Dad when I was younger. He would always buy my sister and I a packet of sweets to keep us happy, as we got bored easily. My sister's choice would vary each week, from Milky Ways, to Werther's Original, but mine always remained the same - Maynard's Wine Gums. When I sprained my ankle a couple of years ago, my sister went to the local shop to get ... ...had run out of Maynard's, so I had to settle for their own brand version. Not the same at all. There is just something about Maynard's which make them so unique and impossible to imitate. Althought the packaging could be considered a little outdated, it is instantly recognisable, with the red packet and colourful writing. ...

Fruit Gums: not as fruity as I would've liked
Advantages: good value, many different flavours, big packs available, available in most stores Disadvantages: boxes are a bit expensive and the fruity taste is lacking a bit
*** this review first appeared on dooyoo.co.uk ***
In my opinion Fruit Gums is probably one of the best sub-brands of Maynards. Unlike the other Rowntrees sweets (fruit pastilles and wine gums mainly), Wine Gums will actually last more than 5 minutes. If you haven't had Fruit Gums before, they are like Wine Gums except quite a bit chewier and harder. If you haven't had Wine Gums before, they are basically round gums with fruity tastes to them. Taste ... ...In my opinion it isn't really that strong or vivid. I mean they are called FRUIT Gums, but the fruity bit doesn't come through that much. Don't get me wrong, they still taste not bad, although they could be better. Another downside on this front is the different flavours all taste quite similiar. The only big difference they have is that they are a different colour. If you couldn't see the colours of the sweets, I can guarantee you would mix up the ...

Choking on the explosion of juice!
Advantages: Really really juicy with fab and distinguishable flavours Disadvantages: perhaps a little too sweet and sickly
Starburst are amongst my favourite sweets but I actually have not had them in years. I only picked up a packet the other day for 42p with the express intention of reviewing them to refresh my memory of the flavours, and to refresh my mouth!
Starburst are fruit chews, like 'Chewits' or 'Fruit -tella' sweets but in my opinion, these are superior because they are softer and juicier. They come in a long yellow 45g packet containing 10 sweets in 4 different ... ...I've had enough. Starburst also come in big bags, ideal for the cinema, though you won't be able to see what flavour you're eating in the dark! (could be a fun game of smelling them to guess). They are also some other variations in the range, like 'Sours' and 'tropical'.
These are available just about everywhere and have been around for years as far as I'm aware, originally being called 'opal fruits'. ...

PERFECT LITTLE PORKERS - PERCY PIGS BY M&S
Advantages: Natural colours & flavours, good flavour Disadvantages: High in sugars
...I chose Marks & Spencers' Percy Pig soft fruit gums. I have had these before but this time I had a choice of varieties, these being a fizzy gum which looked to be curly pigs tails and another were Percy piglets which are a miniature version of the original ones. I stuck with the original Percy pigs. The following review is my opinionof them :-
The 170g plastic bag is pink and green with a cute smiley pig leaning on a fence in front of what looks ... ...old and a notice that Percy Pig is a registered trade mark of Marks & Spencer plc in the U.K.
SO WHAT ARE THEY ? Opening the packet I catch a whiff of strawberry, or is it because the pigs are pink ? Its a nice fruity smell anyway. Percy pigs are described as fruit flavoured. The pigs are quite large 1.5" diametre, a flat pink pigs head with a different pink on the ears, all have a smiley face. Popping a whole one in my mouth it seems just a little ...
