...I should just mention about swiftcover is that for every car policy taken out with them, they will pay £1 to the NSPCC. Now, I realise that £1 is not a huge amount, but if you think how many people could end up taking a policy out with swiftcover then it could end up being a very generous donation to a very worthy cause.
I'd suggest if you need to get insurance soon I would at least look at swiftcover.com as it only takes a few minutes ... more
Hello all.
I went to let you all know about a website called swiftcover.com (as nobody else has done a review on it yet)
A couple of months ago it was that dreaded time of year again where my car insurance was up for renewal. I couldn't bare the thought of having to trawl through Insurance Company after Insurance Company trying to find the best deal that would save me as much money as possible. So I hopped on the internet and had a look through some of the websites that I had seen advertised on TV. I found some that were slightly cheaper than my renewal but only by a few pounds. Then I remembered that really annoying advert for moneysupermarket.com (just goes to show that the annoying adverts work as it made me remember it!)
So I had a look on there (another good website by the way) I put in all my details, make of car, NCD, type of cover etc and it brought up a whole list of Insurance Companies. The one at the very top was Swiftcover.com and it was about £70 cheaper than any other quotes I had received!! So I clicked straight on and had a look. I had to change a few bits around as it puts things in automatically (such as Legal cover etc) which did put the price back up slightly.
The only thing I will say is that the excess is a bit misleading. As if you are under 25 we have to pay a compulsary excess and then we can pay voluntary excess after that. You can choose whatever excess you like to pay for the voluntary (from 0 to £1000 I think it was) which obviously increases or decreases the premium. It's not until you get to the very end of the quote though, once you have said you want to accept etc that you are told what excess you have to pay for compulsary (obviously if you're over 25 this wont be applicable to you) but you can go back and then lower your voluntary excess if you wish which I did. (sorry if that was a bit confusing!)
Now, I'm not saying that everybody that looks on here will get a quote £70 cheaper than any others but you may find it saves you a bit of money and you end up with a better policy. I now have a policy fully comprehensive, legal cover, £25000 cover for personal injury or death (nice!) and all that was still about £35 cheaper than any other quotes I received so it is well worth a look. They send you the Motor Insurance Certificate straight away (via email) and they do have a number you can call for customer services etc.
When you first log onto their site, you have an option on the left of a fast quote (If you haven't had one before) and can select from a Car or travel quote. On the right, you can retrieve your quote if you have already received one, renew your policy and amend your details etc.
If you select fast quote for a car for example, it then takes you through the process of an online insurance quote asking you to enter in information such as Title, first and last name, address, date of birth car registration etc etc. On the right of this screen are helpful options such as 'What we don't cover' and 'No Claims Discount' etc.
I found this website very clear and straight forward to navigate around which made the whole process a lot quicker and easier.
Another point I should just mention about swiftcover is that for every car policy taken out with them, they will pay £1 to the NSPCC. Now, I realise that £1 is not a huge amount, but if you think how many people could end up taking a policy out with swiftcover then it could end up being a very generous donation to a very worthy cause.
I'd suggest if you need to get insurance soon I would at least look at swiftcover.com as it only takes a few minutes to get a quote and you may be pleasantly surprised - I know I was!!!!
...Or so I tried…
Swiftcover don't have a call centre since they are exclusively online. I thought this was great. No waiting on the phone to talk to someone, no begging for a better deal, just free internet use and one answer. Their quote system is simple and fast. There are many options for example voluntary excess, legal cover and breakdown over so that you can create your own flexible policy. Not only that you can play around with different combinations ... ...and therefore I don't commute! Swiftcover differentiate between postgraduate students and undergraduate students, they also allow you to lose the commuting option too.
Joy of joy… a tailored quote and the cheapest I could find to boot. Plus Swiftcover's ability to impress me didn't stop there.

...hate call centres and how Swiftcover had few of them as everything is dealt with 21st centuary style, online only! Amazing ,no hastle waiting on the phone when you have a claim, cheap quotes and loads of extras, i think i found my new best friend!
That is until my wee car was nicked. Some little chave stole it and there it was lying at the bottom of my road abandoned. The police removed it and put it into the cells, well compound to everyone else. ... ...fall on when my interenet was down. Swift cover really do have a call centre for claims, but they don't want people to know this as it defeats the purpose of there marketing strategy, no call centres etc.
TUESDAY AFTERNOON! thats when I eventually got to talk to a "claims advisor". This really did make me scratch my head a little as they see it as; "The creative demonstrates people's views of call centres and the benefits of choosing swiftcover.com ...

...Berlingo) for Business Insurance with Swiftcover for my partner and I. I checked Swiftcovers F.A.Q,s and the relevant documentation and all seemed to be in order.
I had started my Greengrocers business in October 2007 and although the business was doing reasonably well, we decided to branch out and managed to get permission to take a selection of our fresh fruit and veg to 11 local sheltered accommodations as well as offering free local delivery, ... ...to walk home and telephone swiftcover to report the accident and have the van towed away for repair.
I managed to get through to Swiftcover and they quickly arranged for a local garage to come and pick my van up and would contact me again once the garage had assessed the damage and the repair had been authorised.
The garage in question were very professional and prompt and I received a telephone call from them on 3rd July informing me that the ...

My car windscreen was smashed by vandals. I phoned the windscreen 0800 number for Autoglass ,provided with my insurance policy , at 9am on Friday morning. I was advised someone would phone me back within 2 hours. This they did, and advised me they could replace my windscreen on Wednesday!! I phoned the claims number (an 0871 no.) and was put on hold for an age, while a syrupy prerecorded voice advised that the operators were busy "giving a customer ... ...you". -(No into' on what number you are in the queue) I finally spoke to a female who told me to try another of their authorised repairers - the RAC windscreen replacement service and gave me another 0800 number. I asked her if I could use a local firm and was advised they would not pay more than £100 if I did this. I said I had replacement car insurance - if the windscreen couldn't be replaced before Wednesday I'd better claim on that. She gleefully ...

...that having to deal with Swiftcover on both occasions was a wholly unpleasant, time consuming and frustrating experience.
Be prepared to:
1) Be put on hold for 15 minutes every call
2) NEVER have your emails replied to 3) Have to give the same information numerous times before it actually makes it onto your file
4) NEVER be able to actually make contact with you dedicated claim handler
5) Have your claim dragged out so long you end up out of ...
