I was already with Swinton and when I had to renew I told them I was changing my bank account so could I pay the monthly premium in the shop until it's sorted and they said yes, pay in the shop. I not only paid the monthly premium, but I asked if I could pay extra so I could put the monthly premiums down and they took my money in the shop. After 10 days of paying the extra money in the shop, I kept having harassing calls and texts from their accounts department on a withheld number to pay a £50 cancellation charge. This made me really stressed, as I couldn't understand because if they had cancelled it then I couldn't drive, so I phoned the shop and she told me they had cancelled it days before. Then started coming out with nonsense about how the money I had paid in the shop didn't count for anything and I would have to renew as well as paying a cancellation charge, when I didn't want to cancel.I thought it was just me, but I read other reviews of people who had their insurance cancelled and were harassed for a £50 cancellation charge. The stress of them harassing me made me really ill. I don't know how they can get away with it. I can't even afford new insurance now, after giving them all my money and them not paying my insurance with it.
