Advantages Advantages Cute, funny companions. Cheap!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can bite, smelly if not cleaned out for a long time.

Before I start, Ciao appears to be asking the nutritional value and variety of flavours of Syrian Hamsters. I personally don't think a little Hamster has enough meat on it to provide the kind of hearty meal I require, so I've just chosen the middle option. Apologies for the lack of information on the culinary front. Right. I have been a hamster owner since the tender age of 8 (it would've been earlier if I'd got my way). I will never forget the day my parents drove me to Pets Mart and waited while I changed my mind 10 times about which one I wanted. Eventually I chose a little golden syrian ... more

The following must be among the most redundant things I've written. After all, most families at some time own a hamster. A straw poll among my three siblings reveals that two bought their kids a hamster. The other one opted for guinea pigs - basically the same thing, only bigger, and more edible by all accounts. Even my mum owned a hamster a few years ago, when a tame one turned up in her kitchen. She assumed it had escaped from the primary school next door. For some reason she kept it, leaving the heartbroken kiddies to mourn their classroom pet. FUR AND AGAINST You can see why they're often ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages I WILL BITE!

Hello my name is star. I am going to tell you how fun it is looking after a pet like me! -----About me----- BRIEF HISTORY The Syrian Hamster or otherwise known as the golden hamster was first described by G.R Waterhouse in 1839. But the first time any one catched a group of us was in 1930. We were caught by Professor I Aharoni who was a zoologist in Jerusalem at that time who caught us near Alleppo in Syria (hence our name Syrian Hamster) we were found in a deep burrow which had a mother and 12 young. Unfortunately when we were brought into captivity only 3 of the 12 young survived. By 1938 we ... more

I have had four hamsters throughout my life and currently have one called Chilli. We named him Chilli as he is grey all over and looks like a Chinchilla but we thought Chinchilla was a bit of a mouthful as a hamster's name, and so it got shortened to Chilli. What Is A Hamster? Hamsters are from the rodent family, although many people don't think of them as being rodents as they are so cute and fluffy. Adult Syrian hamsters can grow to 18cm in length and females are slightly bigger than males. There are three varieties of hamsters: Syrian Hamsters - they have short brown shiny hair normally ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Cute, Small, Easy to Look After, Playful and Funny.

Disadvantages Disadvantages They Bite! When they smell... they REALLY smell!

Another pet review! This time I'm going to tell you about my experience of having a pet hamster. I have kept hamsters since I was 15. I started off with one small grey one called Chalky who grew to be giant sized! Within a year I had four of these furry critters known as Chalky, Wishbone, Onken and Nelson. But it doesn't stop there I have since then also acquirered George, DJ-Fluffy, Indianna and my most recent addition Lara. First of all I will tell you a little about each of them so I can refer to them later on in my review: Chalky: Chalky was the first hammie I ever owned, I got him though ... more
