I first saw the T3 Wet to Dry straighteners on the internet before Christmas. They looked fantastic - they have the build quality you would expecct from a hideously expensive appliance, and are a sleek grey, with amber coloured plates.
It is the plates that make all the difference. They are coated in crushed tourmaline (the semi-precious stone) which gives a far superior finish than the average straightener.
The ... ...straighteners.
The T3 straighteners gently heat the hair cuticlewith infrared heat, and the steam produced locks in moisture, leaving the hair shiny and soft.
This is not just good advertising copy - as you can imagine after a year of looking like Worsel Gummidge I whipped those beauties straight out of the box.

My hair has had a bad hair year. I had a pair of straighteners that worked (Remingtons) which mysteriously disappeared a year ago.
Since then the mop has gone from bad to worse. I have very thick hair, which is fabulous when done properly but with a two year old, an eight year old, and a business based at home, I have very little time for beautifying myself.
I did buy some straighteners at Christmas (Revlon) but they were useless. They had no impact whatsoever on the mop - they couldn't cope with thick hair at all - they went straight back in the box.

The tourmaline is supposed to emit negative ions when heated - but what does this mean for your hair?
The most important thing for addicted straightener users is that it is far less damaging to the hair than the usual ceramic plates you see in straighteners.

This is not just good advertising copy - as you can imagine after a year of looking like Worsel Gummidge I whipped those beauties straight out of the box.
I found that there is a very handy heat proof bag that you can keep your straighteners in, with a large flap which doubles a a heatproof mat to rest the straighteners on while in use - from the feel of it it is made of Teflon (like a soft and silky blanket that is very heat resistant).
The cord is attached by a swivelling device, which meant that they were very easy to use, and I wasn't having to flick the cord around to untangle it.
I washed my hair, and towel dryed it before getting the straighteners plugged in (well away from the bathroom - they are still electrical even though they are designed for wet hair.)
After a quick comb through, I braced myself for a hideous disappointment - it never came.
They were very easy to use, making a slight crackling or fizzy noise as the water from my hair evaporated, leaving glossy, smooth and silky hair behind.
It took me about 15 minutes to completely finish my hair, and I was amazed at how good it looked.
I now have hair like a movie star!
I would definitely recommend these to anyone - but particularly to those with thick hair, or those with lots of it (I score on both these counts).
I have gone so far as to invite my best girl friend round for a straightening party which says as much about my current social life as it does about the great results I got with the T3 Wet to Dry straighteners. I can tell you now I may have to defend those straighteners with my life when she gets her hands on them - she has similarly thick hair and lots of it.
I paid £79.99 for these on Ebay, with £6.95 postage for Special Delivery - the seller is katoey. They were very professional, delivered the next day and have an excellent feedback record (I checked first as it is a very high value item for me to buy on Ebay).
I have spent the months since Christmas trying to find the best deal to get these, and am confident that I did just that.
if you compare the amount I paid for these to a few haircuts, they don't seem too bad in price - in fact I would say they were great value as my £25 straighteners bought in December didn't even straighten my hair!!
Advantages: Fast heat up, variable heat setting, long cord Disadvantages: Price? but worth it
...2, GHD, or the new T3 by hair art. GHD apparently had a reputation to "blow up" after a years use also they didn't have a variable heat temperature so I ordered the T3 from salonlines for £103, all the hairdressing sites were raving about this and IM a sucker for good marketing and apparently these are the latest in ceramic technology using crushed Tourmaline which apparently enables the irons to emit 400% more negative ions than ANY other straightener ... ...to the hair, to me they sounded much better then GHD's and also the 24 month warranty was a great reassurance.
I nearly ripped the postman's hand off when they arrived, id been going about daily life looking like a hillbilly for days!
very well packaged in a slightly quite plain looking box which included the warranty, (you have to send off for it with proof of purchase IM a little worried cause I haven't heard anything back from them as yet) I ...

Advantages: Tourmaline plates give better protection to hair Disadvantages: None except price
...really was all true, the T3 is the latest and best model. The plates contain Tourmaline crystals which are crushed into the ceramic plates enabling them to produce a higher level of negative ions. Tourmaline is an expensive precious stone which apparently posseses unique ionic and infrared properties giving the hair a shinier and healthier finish! Well that did it for me, so I tracked down the best deal on the internet with Salonlines.co.uk...£155 ... ...matching T3 hairdryer..well I had to get the matching hairdryer!.. and it's brilliant too, but this review is about the straighteners. The Next Day
The delivery driver arrives..whoo hoo...open door before he has a chance to knock and take my precious package eagerly upstairs to unwrap! They are silver coloured with a ribbed design on the housing above the plates and have slightly lighter coloured yellow plates than the Slic Chic also the temperature ...

Advantages: The best on the market! Brilliant job on any type on hair. Disadvantages: Quite expensive but worth it (I think anyway)
...straighteners on the market; the T3 tourmaline wet-to-dry. I didn't know anyone with these straighteners but I really liked the sound of them, especially the fact you can just jump out of the shower and straighten from wet. I read up on them and everything said was very positive. I know they are expensive (almost £100) but I was gonna spend that much anyway on the GHD's.
So, my hunt started again but this time for the T3 iron. It didn't take long ... ...waited a couple of days for them to arrive and when they did I wasn't disappointed.
I tried them that day, washed my hair, put in some smoothing cream to protect my hair from the heat and away we go!!
I was amazed at how quick it was, I was expecting about a 40 minute straightening session but it only took about 20 minutes and the result was absolutely fantastic!!!! It was poker striaght, just how I wanted it and it was sooooooo shiny and soft. ...

Advantages: Hair less damaged, worked well, curled hair well as well. Disadvantages: Mine broke, Can get similar results from cheaper pairs.
...results.
To sum up, T3 are brilliant in terms of protecting your hair (as much as exposing it to direct heat can!) , compared to other straighteners. But heat protection sprays seem to do the same. Mine may be an isolated case, but from my experience I'd say just be gentle on the cable! ...

Advantages: Supersleek straight hair, or you can add texture.. Versatility! Disadvantages: At 210C you've got to be very careful where you put these!
These straighteners are a lot of salons number one choice - even over the rival GHD straighteners. So of course this would lead you to think that these are ideal? And you would be correct! Probably one of the most versatile of straighteners, these are great for adding texture to your hair, and straightening out every visible kink. Ironically, these straighteners have given me bouncier curls than I can even achieve with normal curling irons. When ... ...containing the straighteners, a heat mat (very handy!), and a leaflet. This is probably one of the few appliance leaflets that I have actually read! This gives you useable advice on how to create magnificent curls, and how to straighten to perfection. There's even a bit for the boys, telling them how to straighten their hair into spikes! I have owned these straighteners for about a year and a half and they have lasted longer than any other pair that ...

Advantages: poker straight hair in a flash Disadvantages: wider plates would make the job even quicker
In my opinion these are excellent hair straighteners. I have rather coarse, dry hair and these straighteners give me poker straight hair with a mirror like finish that lasts all day. I have always used GHD's in the past and didn't think anything could beat them but after having 2 pairs that broke in less than 3 years I decided it was time for a change. They're not the cheapest straighteners out there but I would definitely recommend them. There is a choice of size but they don't do a really wide plate like some other manufacturers so they may not suit those with very long hair.
My daughters love these straighteners too as they just glide through their hair with no effort. I would say if you have medium length to long hair then these are perfect! ...
Advantages: Use on Wet Hair, Seal in Moisture, Easy to use Disadvantages: Overuse
I am one of those people who straighten their hair way too much, end up with it being too dry and then have to spend loads of money on conditioning products to out it right.
My hair is naturally pretty straight but we all want vertical straight lines nowadays wihtout those natural waves.
I own 3 pairs of straighteners because i was yet to find the right ones for me or my hair. Then i read an article on the net about the new revolution of Tourmaline straighteners. unlike ceramic straighteners the plates are made of crushed gems (tourmaline) which emit negative ions when heated.
Enough science, What this means is that they can reach temperatures in excess of 210 degrees, dry hair as they straigten and all the time lock in the moisture.
Apparently all the rich and famous are using them and top make up artists wouldn't be seen ...
Advantages: Dont spend ages getting ready! Disadvantages: Cost- however worth it in drying time
I dont know about you but I dont have naturally straight hair and I am one of those people who would need to dry my hair then straighten it before I can go anywhere. But after a bath or shower I could never be bothered to dry my hair and would often leave it wet and it would be a mess. Then I bought this baby! Now it takes about half the time to get ready because these dry you hair at the same time. Granted you cant use them on dripping wet hair but as long as it is not dripping then you are away. I personally find you get a better finsh if you dont leave your hair to dry fully first. That way you get a shiny finish. This product definitely lives up to its name ...
