Huge, puffy mat loaded with play features. Four dolls: Musical Star, Jumping Frog, Velvety ball, Bouncy Bee. Plastic rings, bird sound, baby-safe mirror, crinkling sea waves, jumping fish, textural sea sand. A great way to develop motor skills and senses, learn and discover. Easy-to-carry handles.
Advantages: Loads! Durable, useful, bright, baby loves it, Mummy loves it! Disadvantages: Can't think of a single one!
...Having ripped up the carpets to lay lovely wood flooring in lounge and dining room, we found ourselves with a growing baby wanting to roll about, sit and play and now start to crawl. The rug had been long since been retired to the garage due to the amount of baby sick etc (!) on it so I decided to buy a padded playmat.
I bought the TafToys padded playmat from Blooming Marvellous at £26.99 and it has been worth every penny! It is quite a size at 100 x 150cm and is just great for plonking baby on, surrounded by toys. It is a brightly coloured, quilted affair with a variety of built-in attractions in a few of the padded squares - a baby mirror, a bee with stand-up crinkly wings, a squeaky circle (which lots of adults have sat on!!) and a mouse head dangly rattle.
My daughter used to get bored in the playring, just desperate...

Advantages: It has lots of different activities to keep your child entertained Disadvantages: None
...This is another product from the VTech Little Smart range and it is every bit as good as all the others. This particular toy is for babies and toddlers aged 6 to 36 months and it has legs so that you baby can sit with their legs underneath for play. I was having trouble with my eight-month-old because he would not sit up but as soon as we brought this toy home, put it together and sat him in front of it he was sitting up perfectly. We haven’t looked back since.
There are so many different activities to capture and keep a child’s attention and I think that this is the reason Matthew sits up so well now. There are two settings, which is common in toys from this manufacturer. The first is words and the second is music. This particular VTech product introduces letters, numbers, animals, people, objects and shapes...

Advantages: Adds to the resale value of car, keeps seats clean Disadvantages: .
...and the lower part of the backrest as this is where the highest pressure is placed from the fitting of most child seats. These areas are well protected by the SuperMat.
The foam panels are covered by a strong nylon fabric, grey in colour – with black vinyl gripping panels down each side to prevent slipping and sliding. The fabric is easily washable with a damp cloth should your little cherub have some unfortunate accident with food, drink or bodily function. It also offers protection from those wet and muddy feet that inevitably leave their mark on any available surface.
It may not sound the most visually pleasing product, but it actually looks quite smart and well made, and in any case, most of it is obscured by the child car seat once in place. (See picture at the top and make your own judgement) As an added bonus, there is a flap that hangs...

This product is a Godsend! Especially for people like me with combination skin that tends to get shiny after a while in the T-zone.

My title is taken from a line almost at the start of Beyond The Mat, and it's the common stereotypical view of non-wrestling fans. What sort of a person enjoys a ‘sport’, in which people beat each other up, except they don't really, because... more
