I got my tag for my 18th Brithday, 7 years ago, it is supposed to be serviced (£100 a time) every '2-3' years, I have had to get it serviced twice already, and needs 'servicing' again, it takes six weeks to get it serivced). First time round, it slowed and stopped, sent it off, and was told that the hands and face were 'faded': cost £80 extra. Two years later, watch slows and stops, bezel has also stopped clicking when you turn it (i.e it turned with very little opposition). This also costs extra.
When I recieve the watch back, the hands have not been secured properly, so swing freely round the face. Have to send off again ( another £7-8), after two week 'speed' repair, get watch back, hands STILL not secured properly, so send back again (costing more),this all takes about three months. Now two years later, watch has totally stopped again, so that is another £100 (remember you paid £1000 for this watch). So in the Seven years I have had this watch it will have been with the official repairers for about 6 months!!! Thier attitude seems to be the old shrug of the shoulders.
It is not just me, I know someone else with a tag (series 2000 this time), the crown on his watch 'fell out', and the official repairers took about four attempts to repair that properly, and he knows someone who has had endless problems with their Tag. Overall, not very impressed, and the time is not exactly accurate either. these obviously depends on who sets it, but currently it is operating at about 5secs per day out minimum!
It would be nice to think that you had soem quality product, the case and the feel/ weight of the watch gives you that, but the internal workings are lacking!

Pretty much my experience too, but with a 2000. I wonder if the people who've been please with their Tag Heuer watches, and have had them for years, are happy to pay £100+ every few years for 'servicing'. It appears to me as if all the cost is for the name - just like a pair of £500 designer jeans don't last longer than a Tescos pair, but you do get alot of admiring glances in the posh stuff :)

what a shame, ive had one for ages and it has not needed servicing at all....

That's a shame. I've had my 4000 for 15 years and it's still working perfectly - except for that time I went swimming without screwing the crown in fully... :(
