I recently managed to fill up my 80GB Hard drive with all sorts of rubbish and needed some CD's to store my information on. Usually I would buy them from Tesco's, but as I was In a hurry I popped into my local computer retailer (Northbridge Computers in Lowestoft) to see what he had available. All he had on this occassion was TDK CD-R80 discs. There was single CD's in cases, boxs of ten in cases and spindles of twenty-five and one hundred. I plummeted for the spindle of twenty-five as I wasn't rich enough at the time to buy the big fat one hundred spindle.
***Product*** The disc's themselves are light blue with a silver swirl on it. TDK CD-R80 is clearly stamped on it. There is plenty of room to write on them and they can store up to 700MB of data or 80 minutes recording time. They are ideal for backing up files, pictures, photos, video, music and data. Also they will burn at up 52X speed.
***Smell***
The CD's upon opening still have that sterile factory smell about them.
***Quality*** I have used five of these discs already, all with success. The music that I added has was of good quality My CD-RW has no problem picking them up and nor does my stereo.
***Problems***
The one problem that I find with CD-R's on a spindle is that they scratch easily whilst still on the spindle. TDK CD-R80 are no different. You should take extreme care when taking them off, ensuring that you do not twist them or put fingerprints on them whilst lifting them out.
***Precautions*** As with all CD's there are certain precautions that must be upheld. These are do not expose to high humidity, do not touch writing surface with your fingers, avoid dust, use a proper CD marker pen, do not spill your drink on them, keep out of sunlight, store at the right temperature and keep away from magnets and magnetic devices.
***Price***
These CD's cost me £5 on the button.

***Conclusion***
Well what can I say, they are just as good as the tesco disc's, if not slightly better. They are easy to use, simply put them in the recorder then use your desired software to put the information on them. They are the same price as my usual discs and I would certainly recommend them to a potential buyer.
Advantages: Make CD's with the music you want Disadvantages: Only an hour and 20mins of music
...brand are these CD's? Well TDK CD-R80 of course! There's no brand I ever used, and at this very moment I don't think there's any need to change brand. Whilst the picture beside this review shows a case, I actually purchased about 50 of these CD's in one of those plastic see through cases where all the CD's are piled up on one another. You must know what I mean. If you don't, nevermind, I've taken a picture below. Whilst this does take away the advantage ... ...difference between them. TDK CD-R80's are a pretty light blue colour with three silver lines in the centre that get thicker the further left they go, they almost make a sort of tick symbol. Speaking of symbols, the TDK symbol is printed on the disc as well as the brand name. In smaller text below that is the name of the CD, 'CD-R80', and even smaller text below that it says that the disc can hold up to 700MB of memory or 80 minutes of music and goes ...

Advantages: will work on all cd players Disadvantages: it's not re-writable
RELIABILITY
You will always get the occasional problem when using any CDR. The occasional write error or fail. However I find that I get far less with TDK’s than I do with Verbatim’s or Mr Data’s or unbranded CDR’s.
EASE OF USE
As easy as any CDR, put it in and select the files you want to write and click the write button. Maybe not as easy as a CDRW since once it’s written the data can’t be taken off, so no second chances.
QUALITY
These are ... ...for consumer recorder units (ie. a non-pc based writer), because of these they are of a much higher quality than a standard CDR and the sound will also play back in any audio player compared to a standard CDR that will only playback in a unit supporting CDR playback.
DURABILITY
They are OK. I haven’t had any problems with this myself but I have heard of cases where the surfaces have got scratched and the CD destroyed. But personally I’ve had problem ...

Advantages: Would expect to be a quality brand. Disadvantages: Wasting hours of my time trying to solve problems relating to this product.
I have a new PC which cost me about a thousand pound, so I buy the aforementioned product along with 10 WHS brand discs of the same type. I have had no problems at all with the WHS discs, but with the TDKs 95percent of the time my pc tells me there is "no disc in drive". They very rarely work, which might just be a compatability problem but I'd expect better from top brands.
I have checked my drive status etc. and considering i have never had this ...
