OK, OK, there are faster CD-RW out there and of course there are now DVD-R that give you that extra bit of storage but this little beauty is just what the doctor ordered.
TDK have managed to deliver a great package here both with hardware and the software supplied. They have released faster versions which will please all you speed freaks out there, but with a limited budget and not wanting something so flashy it even makes me a cup of tea in the morning, I settled for this model.

Well it had to happen didn't it. The only component left over from my old machine has been replaced, and has gone to component heaven (not really, it's actually in the wanted ads, but hey I wanted to wax lyrical), to be replaced by this veritable speed demon.
My old cd-writer was a 24 x 2 x 2, Freecom badged Philips drive that took over 36 minutes to burn a full cd, so I decided it was time to upgrade and after much wandering around PC World (I know, I know I'm sorry but they were offering nine months interest free if you spent £200) I chose the TDK Cyclone 12 x 10 x 32 Burnproof Internal IDE drive. I paid (or will be) £179 for the retail pack which comes with the drive (obviously), Nero Burning Rom software, TDK mix master software, cables, marker pen, one cdr and one cdrw.

The Imation CD-RW 650 MB 24x discs are an excellent way to back up or store data at home or at work. I know it's not much storage compared to DVD-RW's but these still come in use as I still use them sometimes myself. As sometimes you don't need 4.7GB that a DVD can hold.
Imation CD-RW rewritable discs have an increased recording speed of 24x and noise free play for a wide range of applications. Even though the CD-RW format requires speed compatible disc burners for recording, the discs can be used in standard CD-R/RWdrives as well as Multi-read CD-R/CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and rewritable DVD drives. This is very useful as you may have a drive which can handle more speed which shouldn't have a compatibility issue.

The TDK CyClone CD-R/RW writer includes the unique BURN-Proof feature that ensures even more reliable writing performance by preventing the problems associated with buffer underruns. As soon as recording starts, the internal CD-R/RW controller starts monitoring buffer status. Should the controller detect an imminent buffer underrun, recording is suspended at the respective location. The drive remains in suspended mode until the host device has replenished the data buffer, after which recording is resumed at the end of the previously recorded section.
